Imagine this: you are a patrol officer just doing your job. Everything is going smoothly as usual and you are not expecting anything out of the ordinary to happen.
But, then it does anyway. You notice something in the distance. Some kind of animal is trying to cross the road, even though there’s many cars on the interstate.
Then, you get a bit closer in order to help. You realize what it is and it shocks you.
That’s essentially what happened to Sergeant Brett Claxon, who worked as a Highway Patrol Officer in Ohio. He was just doing his job when he saw something that shocked him.
What Was It?
After the Highway Patrol Officer realized that there was an animal trying to cross a busy interstate, he quickly got close and then it hit him.
It was a dog who was actually just casually trying to cross the road like nothing was even going on. Luckily for him, Claxon saw him and quickly called for him.
He was able to get his attention, but the dog was confused at first. He looked puzzled, like he didn’t know where he was or what to do.
Fortunately, he made the right decision and actually listened to Claxon’s call and slowly approached him.
Claxon, who saved the dog from a potential accident, took a closer look at him and realized that the pup had no injuries and was going to be okay.
Considering how friendly and well fed he looked, the officer suspected that he had an owner, and it’s possible that he was a missing dog.
Well, Now We Know What Happened
So, without wasting a moment, he took the dog to his car and decided to figure out if he belonged to somebody. There was a good chance that he had an owner.
However, the pup had other ideas, I guess. Claxon found it funny how the dog just casually went into the driver’s seat, like it was not his first time.
He let him have his fun at first, but then he tried convincing the dog to go in the back seat, and he actually listened to him.
Claxon then posted about the dog and was actually able to find important information. As it turns out, the dog did go missing in Ohio. He just had no idea how it happened.
That didn’t matter because he was quickly reunited with his owner shortly after the officer found him on the interstate. He breathed a huge sigh of relief after that.
It’s really wholesome to see how quickly this man reacted to save the dog from a potential disaster. Because of that, he gets to go back to his family.
