Newly Adopted Dog From Arizona Gets Sick And Her Next Move Shatters Hearts Everywhere

Newly Adopted Dog From Arizona Gets Sick And Her Next Move Shatters Hearts Everywhere

The first few weeks in her new home went smoothly. She settled in, learned the routine, and seemed to understand she was safe.

Then, almost overnight, something changed. The once-bright dog grew quiet and distant, her energy slipping away.

The owner from Arizona noticed the difference right away, but couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Nothing in the house had changed, and there was no sign of trouble.

Still, something about the way she moved felt off. Days passed before the reason surfaced, and what she did next broke everyone’s heart.

She Was Scared Of Being Scolded

When Elida Witthoeft first took in her newly adopted dog, Chevy, she was shocked to learn about her backstory.

Apparently, Chevy was abandoned because she kept digging holes in the backyard, which pissed off the owner, so he gave her up.

The first thing Elida noticed about her was how quiet and sweet she was. She liked being around her new owner, but there was a sense of fear about her.

She was treading carefully everywhere, because she was afraid. Chevy needed permission to go into the house, or else she wouldn’t go inside.

At one point, Elida had noticed that Chevy had thrown up after eating one too many treats, so she went to clean it up.

She gave her dog some water and sat with her for a while. However, when it was time to go back into the house, the pup refused.

At first, the Arizona owner couldn’t understand her behavior. She thought that Chevy had gotten used to living in her new home, but then it suddenly dawned on her.

The dog didn’t want to go in the house because she thought that her owner would punish her for vomiting. This broke her heart.

A Heartbreaking Post

After experiencing this sad moment, Elida thought about sharing this story on her Threads page to raise awareness about animal abuse.

One person commented: “The best treats to give dogs are frozen veggies, like green beans, broccoli, etc. Most, if not all store bought dog treats are bad for dogs. My vet gave me this advice as the dog I had would vomit.

Yeah, it’s important to be careful when giving treats to dogs. There are a lot of treats that are both healthy and delicious, so we need to be aware of that.

Another person said: “I had a German shepherd 22 years ago that we had gotten from a shelter. At the end of her life they discovered that someone had shot her full of BBs. We never knew. That broke my heart. She was the best dog.

Yeah, we never really know what kind of trauma our dogs are carrying with them, but we can see it through their behavior, and that’s really sad.

Lastly, somebody commented: “I had a rescue dog and the first time she heard my husband and I argue and say a curse word she walked over to the wall and put the front of her head against the wall. It was so sad. We were mindful not to argue around her anymore.

Yeah, it’s really sad, but dogs are very aware of our moods and that can affect them negatively. If we are unhappy, they are too.

When you own a dog, it’s important to adapt to them so that they can become the best version of themselves as they grow up. In return, they will give us the love and care that we all need.
