Every stray or abandoned dog dreams of a forever home and a human who will cherish every moment with them. It’s really true when they say that we are our dogs’ entire life.
When you really think about it, we spend almost all of our time with them and it gets to the point that imagining a life without them is impossible.
This is what every pup deserves, but reality is far more complicated than this. It’s not easy because there are just so many stray dogs and not enough people to always adopt them.
When a cat rescuer was informed about a malnourished dog from New York, she knew that she couldn’t just ignore the problem. She had to do something.
A Hope For Bodhi

After realizing how sick and weak Bodhi looked, Megan was just in complete shock. She hadn’t seen anything like this before.
It was truly disheartening, but she immediately took him to a veterinarian in New York, where they realized that he actually had a microchip.
While he was receiving treatment for everything he needed, Megan contacted the previous owner only to learn that he had in fact given away the dog three years ago and was not interested in helping.

This was really heartbreaking to hear, but it was what it was. Megan then took the dog back to her residence.
Since they didn’t have a place for holding pups, they had to place the dog in a basement office. It was not an ideal situation, but it was the only thing they could think of on short notice.
They placed a crate for him in there and a camera so they could monitor him. The rescuers quickly learned that he didn’t like being alone.
Bodhi Is So Goofy

Bodhi would often cry after spending prolonged hours alone, so Megan would take him to the park whenever she was available to help him.
She and the other rescuers also fed him constantly to help him regain weight and he was on a good path to recovery.
After first being taken in by Megan and the other rescuers, he was only 37 pounds and he was now over 75 pounds. That’s a tremendous success.

As his health was improving, so was his mood. He was beginning to play a lot more and Megan noticed that he was overall a really goofy and clumsy dog who just liked to have fun.
It’s been a really emotional journey for Megan and she has worked so hard to help Bodhi start a new life.
He is still looking for a foster or forever home, and his rescuers won’t stop until they find one for him. After going through so much already, he deserves a break from it all and I hope everything turns out okay for him.
