We have talked many times about pups who are used for breeding and how such a practice can be extremely challenging and cruel for many dogs.
Now I just want to talk about one thing, and it’s the pup’s emotional wellbeing because I believe people who use them don’t even realize how much damage they are doing to these dogs.
A lot of these dogs end up completely shut down because of the abuse, and it’s really difficult to pull them back. The least these breeders could have done would have been to follow simple rules to make these pups feel some comfort.
Even though that rarely happens, it’s comforting to know that someone at least works to save these pups from such cruel conditions.
Orca spent many years living such a life until rescuers from South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter gave her a new chance.
Orca’s New Foster Mom

As the holidays were approaching, Haley Jeannotte wanted to do some good by fostering a pup, so she went to the rescue organization from New Jersey where Orca was staying.
She spent some time looking, but it was clear on first look that Orca really needed her, and Haley knew that. She learned about what this pup went through, and it was heartbreaking.
Orca was brought to the shelter with no documentation and just left there. She had ear infections and was severely malnourished.

It was clear from her condition that she slept outside most of the time, and the rescuers believed that she had between six and ten litters over the years.
The rescuers believed that her owner had left her because they simply realized that she was of no more use to them.
At that moment, she immediately took Orca into her home and tried to make her feel as comfortable as possible.
Shocking Truth About Orca

In Haley’s home, Orca would recover significantly in a short period of time. Even though she was doing better, Haley could tell that she was still reserved.
After what she went through, it was not really surprising. Haley fell in love with this sweet pup and knew that she wanted to adopt her.
Two weeks went by, and Haley realized that something was wrong with Orca. She took her to the veterinarian in New Jersey for a checkup, and what they discovered was shocking.
Orca was actually pregnant and was also in labor. Nobody at the shelter even realized that she was pregnant, which was a huge surprise.

Everything went smoothly for Orca, and she gave birth to one puppy named Kylo. At first, Haley was not sure if she could afford to take in Kylo as well, so she thought about fostering him.
However, after spending some time with him and his mom, it was clear that she couldn’t separate them. Orca was just such a wonderful mom.
She did her best to take care of her baby, and she was attentive 24/7. Anytime something happened, she would be there to take care of it.
Haley also helped a lot, and she was so happy to have these two pups at her side. She wants to give them the best life possible, and I support that decision. They deserve to be happy.
