Nothing breaks my heart like seeing a dog beloved for so many years lose a home. It’s heartbreaking, yet sadly, it happens far more often than we can imagine.
Suzette Hall, a California rescuer, has witnessed many abandonment cases in her career, and one thing is certain: it never gets easier. If anything, it only becomes harder to watch all of these four-legged furballs struggle to survive on their own after once having everything.
Recently, Hall’s heart broke again when she received a call about loud crying from an abandoned home. What she saw at the scene was beyond words…
“Left Behind Like Garbage”

The neighbors stated that the cries and loud whimpering sounds were coming from an abandoned home for about a week, ever since a family had moved out.
Suspecting that someone was left behind, they contacted Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy. Sadly, their doubts were confirmed. After moving to another location, the family left behind their dog.
To make things worse, the pup was in terrible shape.

She was so matted that she couldn’t even walk properly. The amount of pain she was in was unimaginable.
“This poor girl, left behind like garbage, was so matted she couldn’t even walk. She was covered in tight, painful dreadlocks, and the itching was so unbearable she could barely stay still,” Hall shared in a Facebook post.
Fortunately, the second she saw Hall approaching, her eyes lit up. She was just so happy to be found.
“The second she saw me, this sweet baby lit up. Tail wagging, eyes begging for love. Despite everything, she still had hope,” Hall added.
Hall and her fellow rescuers didn’t waste time. They jointly helped the dog, later named Eyelit, and transported her to a local pet hospital.
This was the first day of her new life chapter, and things already felt better. But, as it turned out, the best was yet to come!
The Best Is Yet To Come

Thanks to her caregivers, Eyelit’s very next day was a blast! She received a nice, soothing bath, followed by an extensive grooming session.
In the end, she looked like a brand-new dog! Underneath all those mats was a strikingly beautiful pup, finally seeing clearly after so long. Just seeing her thrive again was so rewarding.
“I can’t even imagine how good she must feel—maybe for the first time in her life. The weight she’s carried, both physically and emotionally, is finally off her little shoulders,” the California rescuer wrote in a Facebook update.

Thanks to Hall and the rest of her team, Eyelit’s next location will be a nice foster home. Before long, this furry girl will learn all about being a dog, as well as basic puppy manners and skills.
Once properly socialized, trained, and comfortable around hoomans again, Eyelit will be ready for a new family. From now on, there’s no question that her life will get better.
“Eyelit has no idea just how beautiful her life is about to become. But I do,” Hall concluded.
