A clean pup isn’t just more pleasant to be around, but also healthier, as regular care can prevent infections and keep them looking great. But grooming isn’t one-size-fits-all. Some breeds require regular trims, while for others, cutting their coat can do more harm than good.
That’s exactly what happened in Miami, Florida, when a well-meaning mom decided to take her daughter’s dog to the groomer. What she thought would be a thoughtful favor ended up bringing her daughter to tears.
From Style To Sigh
Jax joined the Serret family as a puppy and grew into a gorgeous seven-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi. To his owner, Adriana Serret, he was the most handsome dog in Miami.
Her mom adored him, too. But one day, wanting to help, she decided to take him to a groomer. The problem? Corgis aren’t meant to have their coats shaved or trimmed short. Unfortunately, Adriana’s mom didn’t realize that.
When she picked Jax up after his session, she was stunned. Instead of the fluffy, fox-like Corgi she knew, she was handed back a completely different-looking dog.
The shock was even worse when Adriana saw him.
“My mom wanted to trim his hair a bit because it was really hot. There must’ve been a misunderstanding between the groomer and my mom, and that’s how we got him back. I was devastated because you’re not supposed to cut corgis’ hairs,” Adriana told Newsweek.
Wanting to share the shocking transformation, Adriana posted a TikTok on her account, @adrianaserret.
The video showed Jax’s “before and after,” with the caption: “When my mom took our corgi to the groomer for a ‘trim…’ And this is how he came back.”
“I legit cried LMAO,” she added in the caption, expressing both heartbreak and disbelief.
The clip quickly blew up, spreading far beyond Miami and sparking reactions worldwide.
“I’m really gullible. Are you sure this is the same dog?😭 Who would do such a thing?” one worried user wrote.
Another commented: “oh nooooo! so bad for corgi coats 😭.”
And one person joked: “dropped off a Corgi, got back a Jack Russel.”
Back To His Fluffy Self
While the internet couldn’t stop talking about Jax’s new look, Adriana had some reassuring news for everyone concerned about him.
“His hair started growing back a few weeks later and he was back to his normal self four months later,” she explained.
Although it took some time, his signature Corgi coat eventually returned, restoring him to his fluffy, adorable self.
What started as an unfortunate misunderstanding thankfully ended with a happy outcome. Jax may have looked like a Jack Russell for a few months, but today he’s back to being the charming little Corgi his family adores.
For Adriana, the ordeal served as an unforgettable reminder: sometimes, even the most well-intentioned acts can have surprising consequences.
