When Donna from Stray Rescue of St. Louis heard about a blue Pittie who appeared to be nursing puppies all alone, she knew she had to track her down and help.
Donna packed up some food, got into her car, and drove out to find the brave mama dog.
Rescue Mission

When Donna finally spotted the Pittie mama, she offered her food not only to fill her belly but also to start building trust.
After eating, the mama dog slipped back into the bushes where she had hidden her little ones.
Donna decided to follow, but the mother growled as soon as she noticed her, pressing her puppies close behind her.

Speaking in a calm, steady voice, Donna began hand-feeding treats. Slowly, the mama eased out of the bushes and allowed Donna to place a leash on her.
“She was a little bit nervous, but for a mama dog with us literally being close to her puppies, she was good!” said Donna.

The team carefully brought the mama to the car, then returned for her litter.
It was way easier than we anticipated locating the puppies. She had done a really good job nursing them.
Once all seven puppies were safe, they headed straight for the Stray Rescue shelter in St. Louis.
A Family Finds Comfort
Just a few days after arriving at the shelter, this adorable family was placed into a foster home.

The mama dog, now named Crowned Candy, adjusted quickly and began to thrive.
“She’s very affectionate with her puppies. Now that they’re getting older, they’re a little more independent. She leads them out of the room like ‘Hey, let’s come check this out’. She absolutely didn’t want to be by herself at all,” said Stacy, their new foster mom
Stacy and Crowned Candy became inseparable, enjoying each day together.
She’s my pal. I’m going to be taking care of Crown Candy and her puppies for a few more weeks, and then they will be able to be adopted.

With their sweetness and charm, it’s certain that Crowned Candy and her pups will soon find forever families ready to shower them with the love they deserve.
