Oh, police dogs have to be strong, tough… mighty!
There’s no way a cute pup could ever be a good police dog!
Well, Ruby proved them all wrong. Ruby shut their mouths and left them all speechless.
Because Ruby is both incredibly cute and incredible at what she does.
Presenting today, probably the most pawdorable police dog the State of Massachusetts will ever see – Ruby!
The Cutest Police Pooch Ever
The small town of Dedham, Massachusetts, has a lot of things to brag about, one of them being their excellent Police Station.
But, even our heroes in navy blue still need help from time to time. And, what a better helper than a canine pawtner!
Back in January 2020, the Dedham Police Department issued an official statement that they were hiring, and the pawsition was already filled.
The new pawfficer in training? A lovely Labrador Retriever pup they named Ruby!
As DPD said on their Facebook page, Ruby got hired to “de-escalate situations, engage with vulnerable and withdrawn members of the community, interact with community members suffering from mental health or stress issues, comfort victims and witnesses of violence, and promote police-community engagement.”
Ruby had quite the job ahead of her. She knew she was facing a lot of training, too, but something in her guts told her she would succeed.
After a fun meet and greet with Ruby, organized by the Department, the whole community fell in love with the pooch.
Fast-forward three years, Ruby is still with the Dedham Police Department. She’s a big girl now, doing her job the best way she can.
She still brings a lot of joy to everyone, and she loves to participate in community events, such as:
Running fundraisers for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Making sure all pets get their rabies vaccines.
As well as going trick-or-treating with community kids.
And, saying goodbye to the Dedham High School Class of 2023!
Ruby is making sure that everyone stays safe and enjoys life just the way she does.
