California Man Can’t Believe His Eyes When He Finds Familiar Pup Trapped In A Drainpipe

Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, it’s nearly impossible to help a dog in need. Yet sometimes, a dog comes to you, practically begging for help.

This was the case for a California man named Luis when he opened the door of his home and stumbled upon Maggie, a Belgian Malinois. She sat on the porch in despair after surviving on her own for days.

What she saw in Luis was hope – and hope is exactly what she received! Soon enough, he gently scooped her up and took her to safety.

However, just days later, something unexpected happened again!

Saving Two Lives Unexpectedly

Luis didn’t think twice about helping Maggie. He knew this several-week-old pup was too fragile and couldn’t survive on her own, so he took her to Wilton Animal Rescue in California, hoping she would get the assistance she desperately needed.

Turns out Luis wasn’t wrong.

Soon enough, Maggie found a beautiful foster home with Michelle and Wade Wilcox, who welcomed her with open arms.

Luis thought that was about it, but just a few days later, another shocking event unfolded right on his property.

Luis heard helpless yelping outside his house. At first, he ignored it, as he was used to hearing dogs in the area, but the yelps went on and on – which made him wonder.

A few moments later, he went outside to check it out and discovered a shocking sight! There was a dog that looked just like Maggie stuck in a drainpipe, and she couldn’t go out.

Luis couldn’t believe his eyes. He knew that Maggie was safe with her fosters, and seeing her again just didn’t make any sense. He urgently contacted Michelle and the WAR team, and they arrived at the scene within hours.

After a little investigation, the team determined that the pup who looked exactly like Maggie was, in fact, her sister, Vesper.

As it turned out, Vesper was out in the wild for two weeks. She was completely dehydrated and had fleas and ticks all over her body.

She somehow ended up trapped in the pipe, yelping for help. The good news was her rescuers arrived just in time and secured her in a crate, all thanks to Luis.

Safe, Sound, And On The Lookout For A Home

Just like her sister, Vesper was welcomed by Michelle and Wade into their loving home. The sad part was that she never got to reunite with her sister, as Maggie was adopted just the day before Vesper’s rescue.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to Michelle and Wade Wilcox for their exceptional kindness and dedication to the well-being of Belgium Mals. The family fostering efforts, as seen with Maggie, are truly appreciated,” the California rescue stated on Facebook.

Still, Vesper was more than happy to have found the people who showed her kindness. During the first couple of days, she was still under a lot of stress and trauma, but all that vanished when she received her first cuddles.

Today, Vesper is a happy-go-lucky pup, extremely smart, and eager to learn new things.

“Vesper has mastered her potty training like the smart girl she is! She knows commands like sit, down, here, bump, and even enjoys a good game of fetch! She’s a quick learner and will be so much fun to train,” the rescue wrote.

She’s already made friends and has the best doggo siblings that she loves so much. When the time is right, Vesper, too, will be on the lookout for a new home.

Right now, she’s happy to have a safe place and people who will not let her down!
