How can anyone turn away a dog asking for love?
One glance into those hopeful eyes makes you want to scoop up every abandoned pup. Sadly, not all dogs are welcomed with open arms.
For one California girl, that harsh reality began the day she stumbled onto a random porch. With nowhere to go and no one to trust, she put all her hope in the people living there, only to have it crushed immediately.
A Desperate Plea for Help
When the homeowners saw a tiny dog hanging around their porch, their reaction wasn’t compassion. They wanted her gone.
“What a sad first encounter with humans,” was my very first thought. She was almost on the verge of losing all faith in humanity. But, one kind-hearted woman acted timely and didn’t let that happen.
Claudia, a neighbor across the street, rushed to her aid. She built a little doghouse and made the pup feel safe and welcome.
Claudia also reached out to Suzette Hall, longtime rescuer and founder of Logan’s Legacy, based in Irvine, California.
“This little defenseless girl showed up on a porch two days ago. The people who lived there wanted her gone. Thank goodness Claudia Garay cared and was able to get her across the street where she could be safe,” Hall wrote on Facebook.
When Hall arrived, she took her time to earn the pup’s trust.
The little dog was cautious and shy after her rough experiences, but slowly she began to open up. Within hours, she was riding in the back seat of a car, headed toward a new life.
A Fresh Start And A Beautiful Change
Hall and her team immediately worked to give the sweet girl, now named Brussel Sprouts, the care she needed.
“We have named her Brussel Sprouts. Look how absolutely beautiful she is,” Hall wrote in an update post.
In just a few days, Brussel looked like a completely different pup.
Her tangled, matted fur was gone, replaced by a soft, shiny coat that made her sparkle.
Brussel now appeared like a pup reborn, almost unrecognizable from the frightened little dog who once curled up on a porch.
“Poor baby was so dehydrated after waiting there for days. But, that is all behind her. She is about to sprout to a new amazing beginning,” she added.
This beautiful girl is now waiting for her forever home, a family who will finally show her the love she has always deserved. When that day comes, she will finally know what it feels like to be cherished.
