Witnessing a family of abandoned dogs left to fend for themselves is always heartbreaking. Alone, with nothing but each other, many end up in terrible shape, without even the most basic care.
This was the reality for three pups in Southern California who were dumped beside Magic Johnson Park in Los Angeles. Found huddled on the sidewalk, they refused to leave the place where their family had driven away.
It seemed like their story might end in despair, until a call reached a group of rescuers willing to change everything.
A Heartbreaking Sight On The Streets

Local residents noticed the trio, a female pup and her two brothers, pressed back to back on the sidewalk. According to neighbors, their family had abandoned them by pulling up in a car, pushing them out, and driving off.
At first, the dogs wouldn’t budge. They sat at the same spot, eyes fixed on the road, as though waiting for the car to return. But no one came back.
When the temperature climbed, they finally crawled under a nearby vehicle for shade.

Even then, they never left each other’s side, curled tightly together as if protecting one another.
Logan’s Legacy Team Steps In
Neighbors reached out to Suzette Hall, of Logan’s Legacy rescue, from Irvine, California. She couldn’t make it right away, so she sent two colleagues to the scene.
The rescuers found the three dogs exactly as described. Their coats were filthy and matted, and they were crawling with ticks. It was clear they desperately needed help.
“Dumped at a park together. Covered in ticks, matted so bad they couldn’t even poop, and tons of creepy-crawling ticks. They stayed right where they were left, and stuck together,” Suzette wrote on her Facebook page.

Normally, Hall and her team use humane traps to guide stray dogs into safety. But this time, it wasn’t needed. The female pup walked straight to the rescuers when food was offered, and her brothers followed right behind.
“These sweet babies will never, ever have to wait again. They are rescued,” Hall said.
Even once inside the van, the three wouldn’t separate. They remained side by side during the entire ride to a volunteer’s home.
Safe, But Still Inseparable

At the volunteer’s home, Arturo Flores worked for two hours shaving away the mats and removing the ticks that covered their small bodies. It was slow, painstaking work, but soon the pups looked and felt much better.
They were given names, Damien, Polly, and Barkley, before being moved into foster care.
Hall explained that what made them extraordinary was their unbreakable bond. Even after being saved, they refused to part ways, something rarely seen to such a degree in rescued dogs.
She hopes when the time comes, the trio will be adopted together into one loving home.
Until then, Damien, Polly, and Barkley will keep doing what they have always done, staying side by side and guarding each other, just like they did on the street.
