When we hear stories like Llana’s, one question always lingers in our minds. Why would anyone do something so cruel to a dog?
This sweet Pittie girl hit the lowest point of her life when a heartless person chained her deep in the woods near the Bronx River Parkway, New York.
Llana had nothing but a short 2-foot chain and not a soul nearby to help her.
Left alone, terrified, and vulnerable, she endured day after day in fear… until one compassionate jogger happened to pass by and stepped in to save her.
From Fear To The Biggest Smile
While running through the woods one evening, a jogger suddenly heard desperate barking echoing through the trees.
Since it was already dark, he returned the next morning to investigate. After a long search, he came across a frightened dog tied to a tree, hidden deep in the forest.
He immediately called Craig Fields of the New York Bully Crew, a seasoned rescuer who rushed straight to the scene.
“A jogger who was running through there the night before heard barking and went back the next day to find our special girl in the dense woods. She was so scared and confused and was acting aggressively because of this. Who could blame her,” NYBC wrote.
At first, Llana barked frantically, trying to protect herself from the stranger. But Craig knew exactly how to reach her heart. He patiently offered her food and gave her space to calm down.
Slowly, Llana’s fear began to fade. Before long, she was nibbling food directly from his hand. In that moment, Craig gently slipped a leash around her and guided her into his car.
Though still shaken, it was clear that something inside her shifted — as if she finally realized she was safe at last.
Llana Found The Pawfect Home
It didn’t take long for Llana to blossom. Within just a few weeks of care and kindness, her true self emerged.
Gone was the terrified, defensive dog. In her place stood a lovable cuddle bug, always eager to wag her tail and show off her beautiful smile.
Only three months later, Llana’s happy ending arrived: she found her forever family.
“Llana’s family is so dedicated to her that they spent weeks getting to know her, spent time at the NYBC facility, put in the effort with their dog prior to introducing them and continues to put forth effort and responsibility,” wrote NYBC on their Facebook.
Her new life was more than she could have ever dreamed of. Not only did she gain loving parents, but also a doggy sibling named Ruckus and a sweet baby sister named Tea.
Even though Llana had never known the warmth of a big family before, she instantly embraced them all.
Today, she can’t imagine her life without them. She spends every moment playing, cuddling, or simply enjoying their company.
And when her humans leave the house for a short while, she and Ruckus are always ready with joyful wigglebutts to greet them the second they return.
“We return home and they have their crazy wigglebutts and just cuddle in our laps every time we sit,” Llana’s owners wrote on Instagram.
Whether it’s nap time, playtime, or family time, Llana is always in the middle of it all. Every day is a new adventure for her and her family – the kind of life she always deserved.
