Internet Was Surprised By This Golden Retriever’s Hysterical Reaction To A New York Delivery Driver

We all know that Golden Retrievers are famed for their upbeat spirit and their knack for befriending anyone, anywhere. It’s kind of their superpower.

I always want to say hello when I spot one at the park. Still, it raises a fun question: How effective are Golden Retrievers as guard dogs?

Can they truly keep a home secure, or will they simply try to befriend every single person who shows up at your front door?

Well, I think the answer arrives in the form of Frank, a Golden Retriever who might be the sweetest pup alive, and he’ll show us exactly why he is the ‘pawfect’ guard dog.

The Best Guard Dog

When it comes to making friends, Frank ranks among the most social pups you’ll ever meet, and his family knows it well.

So it didn’t surprise them at all when their dog reacted the way he did after a delivery driver came by to drop off a package at their New York home.

As the man walked toward the house, Frank trotted out to greet him, tail wagging nonstop. He figured a brand-new friendship was incoming.

That pretty much proved he isn’t cut out to be a traditional ‘guard dog,’ but he doesn’t mind. He isn’t trying to keep folks away – he’s out to make friends.

After the delivery guy set the package down at the door, he politely asked Frank to pose for a photo, and Frank happily obliged.

The driver then sent the picture to the family to confirm the package had been delivered, and to show that their dog was now ‘guarding’ it from any would-be intruders.

Hilarious Response On TikTok

After this New York family posted the brief clip, where Frank happily poses for the delivery driver, captured on their CCTV, they were blown away by the reaction on TikTok.

The caption on the video read: “Why golden retrievers can’t be guard dogs.” Many viewers found the short clip hilarious because of Frank’s response, and they chimed in down in the comments.

One person commented: “Why he didn’t even play with the dog? I won’t be able to resist not to hug that lovable dog.

Honestly, I feel the same way. I can’t imagine calmly doing my job without giving that pup a quick pet. Who knows… maybe the driver was on a tight schedule.

Another person said: “Worst Guardian Dog Ever. I remember there was a video went viral last year about a golden retriever playing with a thief who stole his pawrent’s bicycle.

Yeah, well… I don’t think we need a better example than that to prove they’re just not meant for that role, and that’s perfectly fine.

Lastly, FedEx commented: “golden retriever 🙅 package retriever 🤝”.

Honestly, that feels exactly right. Golden Retrievers are really package retrievers, not guard dogs. Good to keep in mind.

As you can see, the video drew tons of attention, and it’s clearly one of the best little stories illustrating why Golden Retrievers are the most cheerful dogs around, and I absolutely love them for it.

Frank, meanwhile, proudly sat by the parcel like a fuzzy doorman, grinning at passersby and accepting imaginary tips in head pats and smiles from neighbors strolling past.
