When Layla and Lola arrived at their local shelter, they promised to stick together until someone adopted them.
It didn’t take long for someone to bring them home, but their stay was brief.
The sweet sisters were returned to the shelter twice more. Each time they came back, they believed the only family they had was each other.
Everything changed when Humans and Animals United (HAAU) heard about their situation.
Help Arrives Just In Time

Rosa Fond, founder of this Florida animal rescue, quickly stepped in to help these pups.
She raised emergency funds to remove them from the shelter and searched for a foster home that could care for both girls together. Fond didn’t just rescue them; she transformed their lives.

When HAAU volunteers arrived to pick up Layla and Lola, their excitement doubled upon seeing how the sisters reacted.
“Seeing them leave the shelter [that] kept them safe until we arrived brings tears to our eyes. The girls have a new beginning, and this time, it will be a forever happily ever after!” HAAU wrote on Facebook.
Luckily, the entire rescue was captured on video and shared on social media, giving us a glimpse of their joy:
The volunteers took Layla and Lola to a veterinary clinic for a full checkup. After the vet confirmed they were healthy, the sisters went to the Florida rescue center to meet other animals.
Finding The Perfect Foster Home
Since the sisters were clearly bonded, they needed a foster home that could give them double the love.
“They are bonded. We would never [separate] them. They need [and] depend on each other. [It’s] the only way to do right by these girls,” HAAU wrote in a comment on Facebook.

Thanks to their charm, a loving family offered to foster them both. Layla and Lola immediately adored their new home!
“As promised, these girls have been kept together. Fully vetted, they are settling in perfectly at their foster home,” HAAU wrote on Facebook.

I’m sure when the time is right, these sisters will find their forever home where they can live happily and actively together.
For now, they’re thriving in their foster home, surrounded by caring humans who give them everything they need and more.
“They are definitely lucky girls,” HAAU wrote in a Facebook comment.
