Arizona Homeowner Enters Sunroom, Only To Find Furry Visitors Waiting For Her

Living in a rural part of town definitely comes with surprises. For many people, it’s not unusual to see stray cats, dogs, or even wildlife wander onto the property from time to time.

It’s one of the charms of country living, and most homeowners don’t mind the occasional animal visitor — sometimes, it even brings joy.

But for one Arizona resident, the morning visit she experienced was far from ordinary. When she stepped into her sunroom, she discovered three unexpected guests lounging inside.

She Didn’t Expect This

The homeowner, Jenny Wantland, instantly recognized the creatures. Nestled under her foosball table were three javelinas making themselves comfortable.

It wasn’t her first encounter with the species. When she first moved into her home, Jenny had already befriended a javelina named Hector, so she knew exactly what she was looking at.

Jenny told The Dodo: “Hector had a hurt back leg and was limping a lot when we first met. It almost seemed like he came to our house for a safe retreat, always lying down on our front porch.”

She added that before she purchased the property, the house had sat vacant for a while. It’s likely that local wildlife had grown used to resting there, especially during hot Arizona days when shade is precious.

After all, it’s Arizona — even wild animals sometimes need a cool retreat. Jenny didn’t mind sharing the space.

Over time, her bond with Hector deepened. At first, he watched her from a distance. Slowly, he inched closer until his visits became routine.

Jenny reflected: “I think it’s amazing that a natural relationship was created.”

The Beginning Of A Wonderful Bond

Eventually, Hector seemed to adopt Jenny’s home as part of his territory. Still, he was a wild animal, and she understood he would spend plenty of time roaming on his own.

So, when Jenny walked into her sunroom and found Hector lounging with two companions, she wasn’t entirely surprised — but she couldn’t help but laugh.

The trio looked perfectly at ease under the foosball table. Jenny wasn’t even sure how they’d gotten inside. Her best guess was that they had managed to push their way through the screen door.

Jenny said: “I’m unsure how they got in there, my only thought is maybe they pushed through the screen door and it unlatched and then closed behind them?”

Curious about what they would do, she opened the door again. But instead of rushing out, the javelinas simply stayed put, basking in the shade a little longer before eventually heading off.

For Jenny, the whole scene was both funny and heartwarming. She couldn’t help but feel amused that Hector had decided to bring his friends over.

She summed it up beautifully: “Life with Hector and his friends feels so special and unique. There’s no give or take, no training or feeding, just an understanding that maybe we both aren’t as scary as the other thought.”
