I can’t even begin to imagine the number of puppies abandoned in the worst kind of ways: left in boxes, on roadsides, or even discarded in bins. They are just too young to survive on their own.
So, really, their only chance is to rely on the kindness of strangers to be seen and saved.
One such case recently unfolded in Houston, Texas, when a homeowner stumbled upon a strange recycling bin sitting in his backyard. Baffled by the sight, he immediately went to discover the box, only to find a shocking surprise inside: a tiny head peeking out from it.
She’s Abandoned
The man was stunned by what he had just witnessed: inside the box was a tiny four-week-old puppy. She was practically begging for help, sitting next to a few supplies.
“Someone dumped this cutie in a recycling bin in someone elses backyard,” ThisIsHouston, a Texas rescue, shared on Facebook.
“The homeowner arrived home to find her and her supplies in the bin — just waiting there and looking up at her. This person didn’t have any other animals to use the backyard, so she’s lucky she was noticed,” the rescue added.
Upon further inspection, the resident and Marty McAdams, his neighbor, realized that the pup was dumped. The scene was heartbreaking: the puppy was so tiny she could barely climb out of the bin.
Fortunately, the community worked together to save this little girl as soon as possible.
They quickly arranged for her to go into foster care with a vet tech who could provide the extra attention she needed. Pebbles had a swollen foot and was in need of round-the-clock care. Other than that, she was in decent condition.
“She came to us a couple weeks ago and was estimated to only be about 4 weeks old at the time. She’s got an old injury to her toes in her back leg but she’s already been to the vet, started meds, and is overall doing well,” ThisIsHouston concluded in the post.
While waiting for her arrangement to go through, Marty agreed to keep Pebbles overnight.
He and his Golden Retriever, Cammie, welcomed this tiny pup into their home with an open heart, and Pebbles couldn’t have felt more comfortable.
She slept next to Cammie in his bed, as if belonging to the family forever.
However, the next morning, her new home awaited!
Pebbles Is Ready For A Fresh Start
One thing is for sure: Pebbles might be fragile due to her age, but she’s a fighter.
She’s already doing so much better than when she was first found. Pebbles has received round-the-clock feeding under her foster’s care, as well as the kind of attention she had been denied before.
Despite her rough beginning, this sweet girl is proving to be a social butterfly!
Now, Pebbles is safe, loved, and, most importantly, no longer alone.
She’s growing stronger and showing off her amazing personality each day. So, when the time comes, there’s no doubt that Pebbles will find a forever family who will give her the home she deserves.
