Hiker From Massachusetts Was Stunned To Find Something Furry In The Woods And Rushed To Investigate

A Massachusetts hiker was enjoying his day in the woods until he noticed something furry on the trail and rushed to investigate.

Once he moved closer and realized that there were two abandoned guinea pigs, he was both surprised and heartbroken. The hiker jumped to their aid immediately.

When the guinea pigs noticed him, they became more scared. They didn’t know that the hiker was trying to help them.

He rescued one of the guinea pigs, but the other one ran away.

Worried for the safety of the other guinea pig, the kind man frantically called his cousin, Elizabeth Wendell, and asked her to help him with the rescue mission.

Two Sisters On A Rescue Mission

Wendell enlisted the help of her sister, Lucia, and the two of them headed to the scene and started looking for the second guinea pig.

Although they knew that rescuing it would be difficult because it was frightened, they were determined to do their best and bring it to safety.

Once the sisters locked eyes with the guinea pig, it started to head toward the forest in order to hide from them.

“When we spotted him, he noticed us and started heading farther into the forest. We were super nervous because you could hear birds around and once he disappeared he’d be gone for good,” Wendell told The Dodo.

Wendell and her sister offered the guinea pig some lettuce in hopes of gaining its trust.

They also made some guinea pig noises in order to make it more comfortable, but nothing seemed to help. The guinea pig was still scared.

After a while, Elizabeth cornered the guinea pig and grabbed it.

Elizabeth and Lucia noticed a cardboard box near the place where the guinea pigs had been found and concluded that they had been dumped.

The sisters couldn’t help feeling sad for them.

From Rejected To Loved

The second guinea pig was in a terrible state. It was skinny and freezing. The sisters carried it to their car, gave it some lettuce, and tried to keep its body warm.

The guinea pig felt confused while its rescuers held it in their hands.

However, its mood transformed once it was reunited with its sibling.

“He was so happy to be reunited with his brother. They were making the sweetest noises at each other,” Wendell added.

Guinea Pig Sanctuary, located in Massachusetts, provided the rescuers with support and advice on how to care for the guinea pigs.

Elizabeth, Lucia, and their cousin took great care of them. The guinea pigs were given a bath and a checkup.

Fortunately, the guinea pigs didn’t show any signs of trauma despite being abandoned. They loved playing around with their rescuers, who treated them affectionately.

Luckily, the guinea pigs recovered from their ordeal and are doing great.

They found a forever family who couldn’t wait to welcome them into their home and cherish them forever.
