A Helpless, Starving Puppy Lies On The Curb Waiting For Help

So many times in life, many of us will be confronted with a situation where we will have to choose if we want to help a starving animal, whether it’s a dog or a cat.

In a lot of these cases, most people just choose to ignore them, as it’s easier to hope someone else will step in than it is to do it yourself.

But, that is not how we should think. If you can help, even a little, consider doing it, as you are making a big difference for the animal you are helping.

In this story, we will talk about a starving dog who was hopelessly waiting for someone to come and do the same for him. Luckily, for him, his patience was rewarded.

Hungry Puppy Sleeping On The Street

In late August of 2022, a woman named Donna Lochmann, who works for Stray Rescue of St. Louis, received a call about a dog who was sleeping on the street in blazing summer heat.

The caller sent her pictures of the dog so they could figure out how to help him.

Donna Lochmann, chief life saving officer at Stray Rescue of St. Louis, told The Dodo: The picture this person sent us showed the dog lying down. It was hard to tell, but it kind of looked like you could see his hip bones. So I knew it was definitely worth checking out.

She was on the scene pretty fast, but couldn’t find the pup, as he was no longer there. She looked around for a bit and managed to find him.

The dog was laying in the water coming out of the gutter, likely to cool down a bit. She got closer to him and realized that he really needed help.

Lochmann said: When I pulled up to the end of the alley, he must’ve heard me. I watched him pick his head up, kind of look around and then flop his head back down on the curb as if he’d completely given up.

Sweet Dog Is Finally Rescued

She was completely heartbroken when she saw the dog, and decided there was no way she was going to just leave him there alone.

When she approached him, the pup seemed pretty welcoming and was not afraid. She helped him get in her car and settle in.

Lochmann continued by saying: I keep blankets in the back of the jeep, so he laid down right away. He seemed so grateful for air conditioning and a place to be comfortable.

The dog, now named Curby, really enjoyed his ride to the shelter. After the usual examination, he was taken into a foster home by a kind family who saw his video and decided to help.

He enjoys his time with his new foster family, and he even has another dog sibling with whom he loves to spend time napping and playing.

His family is making sure he is eating enough, and it has shown, as he gained a lot of weight, and is now moving to a normal diet.

It’s unclear whether Curby was adopted by now, but given how playful and sweet he is, there’s no doubt that he will find a loving family who can take him to his forever home.
