Many shelter dogs equal broken hearts and shattered hopes. And yet, they somehow continue to wait and reciprocate all the love they receive.
Dallas, a sweet six-year-old dog is no exception. Partially blind and deaf, he was left at a shelter after being surrendered following the departure of his owner. Despite his struggles with vision and hearing, Dallas remained a full-time sweetheart.
However, the one thing he misses is a forever home.
Recently, an emotional note on his kennel “written by Dallas himself” expressed his deepest wish for a family to take him home.
Within days, the note left everyone in tears.
“Love, Dallas”

A visit to a shelter is often filled with heartache and hope with equal measure, but nothing could prepare TikTok user Daniela for the note attached to Dallas’ kennel.
Upon arriving at Wayside Waifs (WW) in Kansas City, Missouri, her eyes were drawn to the message that instantly melted her heart.
The note read:
“Please excuse my barking! I am not a mean boy, I am almost completely blind and the shadows walking by scare me. Living in a shelter is hard when you cannot see very well.”
The words were simple but heavy. Dallas, a dog whose life had already been marked by hardship, hoped for only one thing: understanding.
The plea in the note continued and made Daniela’s heart break even further:
“Once I am out of my kennel, I am so cute and friendly and I love to lean in and get snuggles. Please ask to meet me at the adoptions desk so I can show you how sweet I am! Love, Dallas,” the note continued.

Dallas definitely didn’t have it easy. And this wasn’t the first time he pleaded for a home.
Before being adopted by his late owner, Dallas was surrendered once again. This time, his owners left him with the explanation that they could no longer care for him. And yet, this resilient boi never held a grudge against anyone.
According to his caregivers, Dallas is sweet, people-oriented, and a total lovebug once he’s out of the shelter.
“Dallas absolutely loves his people and gains a lot of confidence from staying close by. His foster said that he loves to lay on laps, play with his squeaky toys, and he is completely housebroken,” the Missouri rescue shared on Facebook.
Looking For A Patient Home Environment

Despite being almost blind and deaf, Dallas had learned to navigate his world with nothing but grace! He’s smart, picks up on cues quickly, and even masters going up and down stairs with ease.
Dallas has a gentle nature that allows him to make friends easily, even with other dogs. Still, he prefers the company of people and loves their attention and affection. He needs a family who would help him build his confidence again and give him the time and care he deserves.
“Dallas is looking for an encouraging and patient home environment, with loving adopters who will spoil him with all the love he truly deserves,” WW concludes.
Hopefully, and thanks to his heartfelt note, Dallas is on his way to finding a place where he will no longer feel lonely.
Good luck, sweet boi!
