Malnourished Great Dane Who Couldn’t Even Climb On Stairs Makes A Miraculous Transformation

If there is one thing that I will just never be able to understand, it’s how people decide to adopt dogs even if they don’t want them.

Why would you put an innocent pup through so much heartbreak and torment if you don’t even need one in the first place?

What’s even worse is that these people will also take every opportunity to abuse the dog, or they will neglect him and the pup doesn’t deserve it.

Such was the case for this Great Dane who had been struggling for an incredibly long time. He was so malnourished that you could see his bones. Luckily, his luck would eventually turn for the better.

A Cry For Help

When Avenue was first taken to the rescuers working at S.O.A.R. Initiative in Indiana, nobody could believe how serious his situation was.

But, then they saw him and it became clear instantly. This pup was put through hell because of a neglectful owner who didn’t want him.

Luckily, local law enforcement saw him on the street and immediately called the rescuers for help. This was the lucky break Avenue needed.

He was about four to six months old and it’s hard to say how long he was starving. He was so weak that he couldn’t even get out of the vehicle on his own.

The rescuers were now completely aware of the seriousness of this situation, so they immediately got to work.

They placed Avenue on a strict feeding schedule. He had to be fed every three to four hours, even if it meant that they had to wake up at night and give him food.

This would help him reach normal weight as soon as possible and that was the only thing that mattered at this point.

Eventually, Avenue would try to climb the stairs on his own, but the rescuers saw that he was too weak to do it, so they helped him.

A Big Miracle

This didn’t discourage this brave pup. He was making progress every day and his life was changing with every minute.

Eventually, even his mood improved and the rescuers realized that he was just the sweetest and most cheerful pup they had seen.

His personality was now on full display and the change was miraculous. When Avenue first started running after a long time, everyone at the shelter celebrated this important milestone.

Now that he was in good health, the rescuers did their best to train him so that he would be fit for adoption. He was picking up on commands incredibly fast and everyone was surprised by his eagerness to learn.

Days turned into months, and Avenue was a completely changed dog after five months of serious treatment. He went from being 58 pounds to 94 in all of that time.

Everyone felt so relieved to see that he was now doing exceptionally well. And, that meant that there was more good news.

He was placed on an adoption list and there were already new applications. The rescuers were able to find him a wonderful family in Indiana.

Everyone felt sad that he was leaving the shelter, but they were also incredibly happy that he got to live the life that he always deserved. I am so happy for him.
