When a driver in Los Angeles, California prepared to leave the freeway, something unusual caught their eye. Two pointy black ears peeked out from a tangle of bushes near the exit ramp.
At first, the driver thought the furry figure was a coyote. But as they looked closer, they realized it was a dog.
A black German Shepherd mix stood there, trembling, watching the passing cars with eyes full of fear.
She had been living by the highway for weeks. With no one stopping to help, she had lost hope that rescue would ever come.
Little did she know, everything was about to change.
Strangers Step Up To Help A Dog In Need
The compassionate driver couldn’t leave her behind. They shared her location online, urging others to come and help.
It didn’t take long before kind strangers rushed to the exit ramp. They tried to approach the frightened dog, but the moment she noticed them, she panicked.
The pup, later named Miracle, bolted into the distance, too terrified to trust anyone.
Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, a dog rescue in Irvine, California, soon heard about Miracle and wanted to help.
When news spread of a serious freeway accident, Hall feared the worst. She reached out to locals, asking them to contact her if Miracle returned.
Several days later, the skittish pup reappeared in her usual spot. Hall wasted no time. She drove straight to the location, determined to bring the frightened girl to safety.
When Hall arrived, her heart ached at the sight of Miracle curled up tightly in the bushes, surrounded by speeding cars.
“It was so dangerous for her and for me. I literally had to dodge cars to get to where she was at with my big trap. I was so scared, but I knew she was, too. I knew, one wrong move, and it wouldn’t be safe for either of us,” Hall wrote in a Facebook post.
Carefully, Hall set a humane trap filled with tasty treats, then stepped back, keeping her distance.
Miracle Finds Safety At Last
Unable to resist the food, Miracle stepped inside the trap. When Hall returned to find her safe inside, tears filled her eyes.
The sweet dog was still trembling, unsure of what was happening. Hall gently comforted her, lifting her from the crate. Miracle gazed up at her rescuer, eyes shining with the first glimmer of hope.
Hall carried her to the car and drove her straight to the vet. After a thorough medical checkup, relief came: Miracle was healthy.
Soon after, Hall’s friend Jeanette offered to foster her.
In her foster home, Miracle finally let out a deep breath of relief. No more roaring traffic, no more bushes for shelter. Just a warm bed and the gentle care of someone who loved her.
She now spends her days safe and cared for, still waiting for her forever family.
