Stray dogs usually look for shelter in spots where they figure no one will bother them. Often that means an abandoned building or a quiet corner on the street.
But not every dog is alike. Some pups choose odd places full of people, and why they do that isn’t always clear.
My best guess is they feel safer close to humans and think they’ll have a better chance of getting help that way.
Take this dog for example. He was hanging out next to a busy freeway entrance where cars stream by all day. As luck would have it, someone kind noticed him and decided to do something.
He Needed Every Bit Of Help He Could Get

When Suzette Hall wheard from her friend Denisse Maldonado about a dog living by a freeway entrance in California, she was taken aback by the news.
The pup had been there for more than a week, and Denisse had been leaving food for him. She tried to line up a foster, but noted it’s tougher to place a large dog.
None of that mattered to the dog. He was just glad someone cared, and he seemed to understand he was safe when they came around.

After spending more time coordinating, the pair managed to secure a wonderful foster home for the happy-go-lucky dog.
Denisse and the dog’s new foster, Sandra Viveros Jackson, went out together to meet him and bring him in.
They brought a heavy trap because they thought they might need it. When they arrived, the pup ran straight up to them.
The Easiest Rescue Ever

He was overjoyed to see them. They offered him some treats, which he happily accepted. While he ate, Denisse set up the trap and got him into the kennel.
Once the trap was in place, the pup calmly walked inside and was secured. For Denisse, it was one of the easiest rescues she’s done, but the work wasn’t finished.
Though a foster had been found, the pup still needs a forever home, and that can take time.

In the meantime, Sandra took him into her California home so he could feel what it’s like to live in a warm house with people who care.
We don’t know his full backstory, but one thing is clear: he’s a sweet dog with a lot of love to give and he deserves a special person.
When that will happen is uncertain. So far there’s no update about his adoption, but I’m hopeful things will work out for him.
