Georgia Foster Parents Took A Dog To A Vet Because He Was ‘Malnourished’ Only To Learn The Shocking Truth

Georgia Foster Parents Took A Dog To A Vet Because He Was ‘Malnourished’ Only To Learn The Shocking Truth

We have all read through many stories where an owner suspects their dog might be a different breed than the one that was advertised by the shelter.

It’s not too uncommon for people who are not so familiar with all the breeds to make a mistake when adopting. Happens all the time.

However, have you ever accidentally discovered that your dog is some other breed by taking him to the veterinary clinic?

Well, something similar happened to these foster parents who were concerned about their dog’s health, so they took him to the vet to get help.

Well, That Was Quite A Shock

A woman from Georgia took in a foster pup, named Brucey, and decided to give him a chance until he found a forever home.

However, she had no idea how difficult it would be to care for this pup. Laurel Lingenfelter was shocked when she saw that the tiny pup was seriously malnourished.

So, she immediately took him to a veterinary clinic where she was told that the reason Brucey is malnourished was because he was not a bully-breed mix, but rather a Great Dane.

The examination of his joints pretty much confirmed that. He was definitely going to grow up to be a big dog.

Since these dogs grow up so fast and so much, they have pretty big appetites and need way more calories for growth than bullies do.

Laurel had a small suspicion that he was actually not a bully mix, so she wanted to confirm it. The Georgia shelter she found him in had him listed as a bully mix, but I guess even they made a mistake.

Laurel has decided to gradually shift Brucey’s diet so that it’s more fitting for a Great Dane. They are taking their time with it because an instant change could seriously harm him.

Brucey’s Change

Nevertheless, Brucey is a pretty happy dog who is always happy despite what he went through. Thanks to his amazing foster parents, his life is changing with every day.

They posted the story about his breed on TikTok, and unsurprisingly, it gained a lot of attention.

One person commented: “Dane variations are my absolute favourite breed. Can’t wait to see this story unfold.

Great Danes are a handful, but they are so adorable and having them is an incredibly unique and humbling experience.

Another person said: “I miss baby already, but I’m excited to see Bruce get healthy and find his home after spot.

The good thing is that this therapy will help Brucey make a quick recovery and hopefully accelerate the process of his adoption.

Lastly, somebody commented: “Love how his tail never stops… definitely has landed in the right hands to help him recover.

Yeah, he feels so safe in their presence. It’s clear that he has found the most amazing people.

Hopefully, his story will take a turn for the better when he finds a forever home. Everyone is hoping that it will happen very soon.
