Rescues are very important. They can change a dog’s entire life and someone else’s. It happens in more ways than we can imagine.
That’s why even the little things we do to help animals mean so much, even if we don’t think it does at the moment.
It’s a noble profession and it’s always full of surprises. Take this story for example. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue in Florida were called to help a pup stuck in a canal.
However, they were in complete shock after learning the truth about this dog’s origin shortly after.
Quick Rescue
After the distressing 911 call, the firefighters were on the scene in no time. The pup was stuck in a canal and was struggling to get out.
The firefighters immediately rushed in to save him from the water. Because he was only hanging from a ledge, the rescue was really simple.
Luckily for them, the pup didn’t resist at all and was saved in no time. This was a big victory for the Florida firefighters. Now they just had to figure out their next steps.
The police department scanned the dog for a microchip and it was successful. They were actually able to locate her family.
Apparently, they lived approximately 200 miles away from Fort Lauderdale, in St. Cloud. They contacted the family and they were shocked to hear about the dog, named Bella.
When asked how she went missing, the family told them that they suffered a house fire six years ago and had to move into a hotel.
A Heartwarming Reunion After 6 Years
Because the living situation was extremely difficult for them, they gave their dog to a friend to keep her just for a while until they figured out what to do next.
However, this friend gave their dog away without their knowledge and they thought that they lost their dog for good.
Even though they wanted her back, it was hard to find her. Judging by the fact that she was roaming on her own, it’s safe to say that whoever kept her abandoned her.
Nevertheless, the family was reunited with Bella and this was just an incredibly heartwarming moment for the family.
They threw her a big welcome party when she came home and then gave her a bunch of treats and a steak dinner. She looked so happy to be with her favorite humans.
It’s so fortunate that Bella’s story had a happy ending. It’s a reminder of how even such a simple moment can mean so much to a family.
