Wisconsin Family’s DNA Test On Their “Bulldog” Revealed An Unexpected Secret

Wisconsin Family’s DNA Test On Their “Bulldog” Revealed An Unexpected Secret

“You think you know someone…”

When the Wright family from Wisconsin adopted Jake, they believed he was an American Bulldog. The shelter hadn’t provided his full breed details, but his sturdy build, broad head, and sweet expression seemed to fit the description perfectly.

Maggie Wright, her brother Renae, and their family instantly fell for Jake. He was affectionate, gentle, and full of personality—everything they could have hoped for in a new furry friend.

Still, curiosity lingered. They decided to run a DNA test to confirm his breed once and for all, never imagining how surprising the results would be.

A DNA Test With Unexpected Results

At first, the Wrights thought they might be slightly mistaken about Jake’s lineage. They assumed the test might show a mix of Bulldog with another breed.

Based on his muscular frame and distinctive face, Maggie and Renae were almost certain their guess would be close.

But the truth was far from what they expected.

In a now-viral Reddit post titled “Whelp, we were wrong,” Maggie shared the stunning DNA test results.

Jake wasn’t an American Bulldog at all. He was a purebred American Pit Bull Terrier.

The family couldn’t believe it.

Soon, Jake’s story gained attention online. Many commenters expressed how easy it was to make the same mistake, given his looks.

“I was bracing to be surprised that he wasn’t a pittie. I can see why you guessed American Bulldog too though,” one user wrote.

Another commented, “Wow, no American Bulldog? That’s wild. That’s the most American bulldog-looking pit I have ever seen.”

While some focused on the DNA results, others simply admired Jake’s charm.

“Those eyes just rip into your soul, don’t they? What a sweet baby Jake is,” one person added.

From the moment Jake left the Humane Society of Burnett County and joined Maggie’s home, his loving nature shone through.

His breed might have surprised everyone, but his personality didn’t. Jake quickly proved himself to be a loyal, gentle companion who adores his family and enjoys being around other dogs.

Some even pointed out how much he resembles Chance from the beloved movie Homeward Bound.

Jake loves his cozy bed, endless snuggles, and spending time with the people who adore him.

Now that his DNA results have settled the mystery, nothing about how the family sees him has changed. If anything, their bond is even stronger.

To Maggie and Renae, Jake isn’t defined by his breed. He’s family—their sweet, loving boy who brightens every day.

And as it turns out, he’s not just one hundred percent Pit Bull. He’s also one hundred percent pure heart.
