Have you ever read a rescue story about dogs that made you believe in fate? Well, I have read quite a few of them and they are pretty compelling.
Sometimes, certain events in life unfold in such an unusual way that it’s really hard to believe that it’s a mere coincidence.
And it’s no different in this story. This family from California was heartbroken when their pup crossed the rainbow bridge, but what they saw a little while later shocked them to their core.
Is It Dakota?

When Dakota was first adopted by her family, she was actually staying at Pasadena Humane along with her siblings, Ginger and Maverick.
Initially, they wanted to adopt Ginger, but ended up with Dakota instead. All three puppies ended up being adopted by different families and they lived amazing lives.
Dakota spent eleven amazing years with her favorite humans, but things took an unexpected turn when she passed away from cancer.
Vickie Showalter, Dakota’s mom, told The Dodo: “She had a wonderful 11-year life and was still playing fetch until the end.”

Some time passed, and the family was still reminiscing about the time they spent with their beautiful pup.
Then, out of the blue, they saw a post on Facebook from Pasadena Humane. It was about a dog looking for a home, but coincidentally, she looked just like Dakota.
Was it her? How could it be her? Well, the truth was simple: it was Dakota’s sister, Ginger, who ended up in a shelter again after unforeseen circumstances.
The shelter workers were shocked when the family reached out to ask about the dog. It’s been so long since they adopted Dakota in that same shelter.
Ginger’s Fateful Moment

Kevin McManus, who works at Pasadena Humane, said: “Senior dogs always have a difficult time getting adopted, so our amazing social media team put up a post about her with her puppy photos from 2013, to remind people how great senior pets can be. We never expected that the adopter of Dakota would see the post, much less recognize the photos from 12 years ago!”
The family from California knew that they had to adopt her immediately. This was a fateful moment, and they couldn’t just sit around and do nothing.
They thought that it felt a bit strange at first. She looked just like Dakota; it was an uncanny resemblance.

The shelter workers, who were initially scared that she would struggle to find a forever home were now rejoicing after she was adopted.
Showalter said: “She is settling in beautifully and receiving the Queen treatment she deserves. Ginger is a sweet, affectionate and already-bonded-to-us girl. We feel like we have gone full circle with the miracle of being united with Dakota’s sister.”
Well, this convinced me. It was fate that united Dakota’s sister with her family, and thanks to these wonderful people, Ginger will get to spend her senior years in a warm home with people who treat her with the love and care she deserves.
