A common wish of all dogs is to have a happy home and humans who adore them.
Sadly, some pups wait longer than others to finally realize that simple wish.
There are countless dogs who suffered in neglectful homes and ended up dumped in a cruel way and left to fend for themselves.
One pup dumped in California went through quite an ordeal and knows the pain of being neglected and abandoned. Her merciless owners dumped her on a busy road.
Although the pup was scared of humans, she still wanted to be close to them, at least from afar.
While walking down the street, the pup noticed a woman playing with her dog in the yard. She was drawn to their happiness, so she just stood there and watched them.
A Quiet Visitor At The Edge Of The Yard
Isabella Strickland and her family recently got a new puppy and were enjoying an afternoon outside.
Her son wanted to have a puppy, so Strickland drove eight hours to bring him home and surprise him.
While they were running around with the little dog, Strickland caught a glimpse of a mysterious furry creature near the driveway.
She felt sad when she realized that it was a lonely dog sitting there, watching them carefully.
She didn’t move much and just kept looking at them as if she wanted to join them.
In an October 24 Instagram post, Strickland explained that the dog was “so scared” and would run the moment anyone tried to approach her.
Even when the puppy tried to go near her, the dog retreated to the very edge of the yard due to her overwhelming fear.
Strickland knew it was dangerous for the pup to stay on the road. She felt she had to help.
Steps Toward Trust And Safety
Isabella and her family began leaving food and water for the dog each day. They kept their distance so the dog could feel safe.
Strickland noticed that the doggo looked like she had recently given birth to puppies, so they searched around the yard to see if she had puppies hidden somewhere, but they found none.
Gradually, the dog began trusting the family, and her fear began dissipating. She became convinced that the food would always be there and that no one meant to hurt her.
At last, the moment Strickland hoped for arrived. After giving the doggo a few treats, she walked up to them and then jumped into the car. She understood she was finally safe.
Strickland found her a forever family.
She later said in the Instagram comments that the family who adopted the dog is the perfect match for her. She is the only pet in their home and will receive all the attention and calm she needs.
Their previous rescue dog had recently crossed the rainbow bridge, and the family had a lot of love in their hearts for a new companion.
Isabella later found out the heartbreaking way the dog had been dumped. One of her neighbors had seen someone throw the dog from a truck, which explained her fear and distrust.
I’m sure the doggo turned a new page and forgot everything about her previous life.
From now on, all she will ever know is happiness.
