Here’s the truth: being a dedicated dog owner, there’s really nothing we wouldn’t do for your four-legged friends! We go to great lengths to entertain them, keep them safe, take care of them, and make them feel loved.
So, when John Aguilar, a dog owner from San Antonio, Texas, heard that his lost dog, Ghost, had been found, he didn’t think twice.
At the time, Aguilar didn’t have a car in his garage. His only option to shorten his trip to Ghost was a lawnmower. And, sure enough, he used it!
Nine-Hour Ordeal
John adopted Ghost, now a four-year-old Labradoodle, from a friend in Virginia. As it turned out, it was the best decision possible! Before long, Ghost became a cherished member of his family.
Included in almost every family activity, it was impossible to imagine life without this strikingly beautiful dog. That’s why, when Ghost went missing one day, the entire family was both shocked and heartbroken.
Upon leaving for work, the family left a kitchen window cracked just a little. Little did they know that Ghost would use this opportunity to pull himself onto the ledge, open it, and leave.
When the Texas family returned home, they realized Ghost was nowhere to be found.
They searched everywhere. John made calls and searched the neighborhood on foot, while the rest of his family got in the car and drove around, hoping to find the dog.
However, Ghost, all curious and energetic, found himself a little farther than expected.
After almost a mile, he appeared in a local automotive repair shop. Fortunately, Johnny Chavez, the man who worked there, happened to be at the right place — at the right time.
Chavez soon contacted his friend Jenn White, a local dog rescuer, who helped him take the dog to the vet and scan him for a microchip. Soon enough, the chip was found — and John answered the call, relieved to have finally received the information about his furry companion!
The Lawnmower And An Unforgettable Reunion
White and Chavez waited for John to arrive and pick up Ghost, who already felt so comfortable with the duo. Little did they expect him to arrive on a lawnmower!
John, who was at that time without a car, didn’t want to waste time. Instead of walking for about twenty minutes to get to Ghost, he sat on a lawnmower and came down the street to pick him up. It was amazing!
“My family was out in our car in another part of town looking for him; it would have taken me 20 minutes to walk to get him, and I just wanted Ghost back as soon as I could,” John told The Dodo.
This heartwarming reunion left Ghost’s rescuers completely dazzled. While used to having owners not want their lost pets back, Jenn couldn’t hide her joy at seeing an owner actually going to great lengths just to reunite with his dog.
“Being a rescuer, you get so used to people not caring about animals, not wanting them back and not caring what happens to them. Then here’s this guy, he loves his dog, and it’s obvious. This is why we keep going,” White shared with The Dodo.
After safely taking Ghost home, John and the family welcomed their lost buddy with excitement. He was finally where he belonged. And he couldn’t be happier!
