Everyone Abandoned This Malnourished Pup From California Because She Was ‘Too Much Work’

When owners abandon their dogs because they are ‘too much work,’ I keep thinking what could that possibly mean.

I mean, people usually know what they are getting themselves into when they adopt a pup, Right? Well, the truth is that this is probably not the case.

A lot of people just don’t really care about dogs, and this is how such situations occur. Having a dog is a responsibility, and it’s important to acknowledge that before you adopt a pup.

They don’t like being abandoned because they believe that something is wrong with them.

Something similar happened to this Great Dane who was abandoned by his family because they thought he was too much.

She Looked So Skinny

When Erica, from Wags and Walks, first met Sweet Pea, she was in a high-euthanasia shelter in California, and she was desperate for help.

They helped her get transferred into this rescue organization, but the shelter staff noticed that she was pretty shut down from the start.

It’s like all the hope in her eyes had faded away, and she didn’t have the will to live anymore. To make matters worse, she was extremely emaciated and had been struggling with weight for a while.

They immediately took her to a veterinarian clinic in California so that they could give Erica and the rescuers proper instructions on how to proceed next.

Aside from being emaciated, she also had a really bad case of pneumonia, so she would need serious treatment for some time.

In order to help her regain weight, she needed to eat a lot of smaller meals spread out evenly across the day. This worked, and the rescuers were surprised by how quickly she changed.

The Change Was Just Impressive

Days turned into weeks and then into months, and the progress that Sweet Pea made was just amazing. She had recovered from pneumonia, and her weight had changed dramatically.

She was completely healthy now, and the rescuers were sure that it was the right time for her to try again. Sweet Pea just wanted a loving family, and they were hopeful that she was going to find it.

Her mood had changed drastically, and she was no longer the lethargic dog who just stared at a wall the entire day.

A man who worked at the adoptions team in Wags and Walks actually thought that she would be an amazing fit for him, so he just decided to adopt her.

And, just like that, Sweet Pea’s entire life changed in an instant. She was living in a beautiful home with the kindest people she had ever met.

The future ahead of her is bright, and I am so glad to see that she had the courage to push further and regain her hope in a better life.
