Kentucky Driver Spots A Tiny Puppy Tied To A Tree And Makes The Call That Saves Her

All a dog really asks for in this world is love, care, and someone who will treat them like they matter.
When their tails start wagging with pure joy and their eyes soften with trust, it has a way of melting our hearts into a puddle, honestly.

But not every person gives their pet that same kind of loyalty.

It hurts to think that anyone could walk away from or hurt the very companion who would love them with their whole little heart.

Ladybird was one of those innocent pups who learned far too soon that people can be painfully unkind.

The tiny brown and white puppy had been left tied to a tree, completely alone and forgotten.
Cold, scared, and trembling, she waited quietly beside the trunk, her sad eyes turned toward the road as if she was still hoping a kind stranger would notice her and finally come to her rescue.

A Shocking Discovery

As a driver traveled down a rural Kentucky road, something small caught their attention. Slowing down, they noticed a puppy fastened to a tree by the side of the road. Horrified, the driver immediately called Lewis County Animal Shelter for help.

The shelter’s staff rushed to the scene and gently freed the puppy before taking her to safety.

“She was just so stoic sitting there by the tree, waiting for someone to notice her. So thankful that the shelter found her and took her in. She was found not far from the shelter, actually,” Kim Desroches of Friends of Lewis County Animals told The Dodo.

When the frightened puppy, later named Ladybird, arrived at the shelter, she was clearly anxious and unsure of her surroundings.

The staff quickly realized that a large shelter was not the right place for such a fragile little dog. Ladybird needed comfort, quiet, and someone to reassure her that she was safe.

When Kim Desroches, who works with Friends of Lewis County Animals, saw Ladybird’s photo on the shelter’s Facebook page, she was heartbroken.

The puppy was only six or seven weeks old, far too young to endure such a harsh start in life.

Desroches and the rescue team couldn’t comprehend how anyone could leave a puppy that small tied up and alone. Determined to protect her, Desroches began searching for a foster home immediately.

She knew that keeping Ladybird at the shelter could expose her to illness and stress, so finding her a home was urgent.

A Brighter Path Ahead

Thankfully, it didn’t take long. Desroches found a loving foster willing to take Ladybird in, and soon the puppy was safe in a warm home.

Her foster mom showered her with affection, cuddling her often and showing her what kindness feels like. Slowly, Ladybird’s fear faded, replaced by the joy and playfulness every puppy deserves to feel.

After spending some time recovering and learning to trust again, Ladybird was transferred to Licking County Humane Society in Ohio, where she would have the best chance at finding a forever home.

A while later, the organization happily announced that Ladybird’s adoption was pending.

We’re all hoping this sweet girl has found her forever family—one that will never let her down again. Ladybird deserves nothing less than a life filled with love, care, and security.
