Every homeless or abandoned pup longs for a forever family and a person who will treasure every second with them. It’s often said that we are our dogs’ entire world, and that couldn’t be more true.
When you really think about it, we share so much of our time with them that the idea of life without them feels impossible.
This is what every dog deserves, but sadly, reality is far more complicated. The truth is that there are countless stray pups out there and not nearly enough people ready to adopt them.
When a cat rescuer learned about a starving dog in New York, she realized she couldn’t turn a blind eye. She had to step in.
A New Chance For Bodhi

When Megan first saw Bodhi, she was stunned by how frail and unwell he looked. She had never encountered a case quite like his.
It was heartbreaking, but she wasted no time in taking him to a veterinarian in New York. There, they discovered he actually had a microchip.
While he received the medical care he urgently needed, Megan contacted his previous owner, only to discover that the man had given the dog away three years earlier and wanted nothing to do with helping him.

It was crushing to hear, but Megan pressed on. She brought Bodhi back with her, even though they had no designated space for dogs.
They ended up placing him in a basement office. It wasn’t ideal, but it was the only option they had at that moment.
They set up a crate and a camera to keep an eye on him. It didn’t take long to realize that Bodhi hated being alone.
Bodhi Shows His Playful Side

Whenever Bodhi spent too much time by himself, he would cry out. Megan often took him to the park whenever she had the chance, just to lift his spirits.
The rescuers also worked hard to feed him regularly and help him regain weight. Slowly but surely, he started recovering.
At first, he weighed just 37 pounds, but with their dedication, he climbed to over 75 pounds. That was an incredible milestone.

As his health improved, his personality began to shine through. He started playing much more, and Megan quickly noticed what a silly, clumsy, and joyful dog he truly was.
For Megan, it has been an emotional but rewarding journey, putting so much effort into giving Bodhi a second chance at life.
He is still in need of a foster or forever home, and his rescuers remain determined to find one. After everything he has endured, he deserves peace and happiness, and hopefully that day comes soon.
