Miracles often come when you least expect them, and today’s heartwarming story is a wonderful reminder of that.
When kind employees at a St. Louis auto repair shop noticed a dog roaming nearby, they were worried for her and jumped to her aid.
They scooped her up and took her to Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
The staff took over the care of the confused pup, unaware of the secret that was about to come out and leave them in tears.
The Dog’s Secret Comes Out
The dispatch team immediately scanned the stray dog for a microchip and found out that she fortunately had one.
The staff immediately called the contact number registered on the microchip only to be surprised by the response.
The dog owner answered the call. Once the Missouri shelter staff told him that his dog had been found safe and sound, he was overwhelmed with emotion.
“I’m on my way to work but … oh my God I can’t even think about that right now. I’m on my way,” the man said.
He was in disbelief that his beloved dog reappeared because she had gone missing over a year ago.
Although the dog owner had to go to work, he rushed to reunite with his best friend instead.
Once he arrived at the shelter, the man couldn’t help crying.
Deeply moved by the man’s emotional reaction, the front desk team cried with him. Everyone could tell how much he loved his dog.
The staff picked up the dog from her kennel and brought her to her owner.
As soon as the doggo saw her human waiting for her at the shelter hall, she wagged her tail furiously, unable to contain her joy.
The man took his beloved dog in his arms and cuddled her. The pup’s eyes were filled with deep love that she felt for her dad.
Both the owner and the pup were overjoyed to be back together.
The Importance Of Microchipping Pets
The staff shared the heartwarming story on Facebook and used the opportunity to remind their followers to microchip their pets.
“They are reunited and we guarantee she’s never going to go missing again! These two were so happy to be reunited. What’s the message here? Make sure your pets are microchipped and your info is up to date!! Miracles happen!” the Missouri shelter wrote on Facebook.
The post garnered massive attention. People were thrilled with the dog’s reunion with his dad and they left heartfelt responses.
“Ohmygoodness! This little one has SURVIVED WHO-KNOWS-WHAT for over a YEAR! SO happy the CHIP reunited them (and that the owner WANTED her back!),” wrote Terri Matheny.
“The fact that this big guy was crying over this little dog makes my heart so very happy,” added Kathy Sciranko.
We may never know what the dog went through during the 13 months she had been missing, but one thing we know for sure. She and her owner love each other immensely and the dog will continue enjoying her life and forget her life on the streets.
