The Platteville Police Department (PPD) in Wisconsin shared the story of a dog discovered abandoned in their community.
While responding to stray animal reports is part of everyday duty for officers, this situation stood out because of one striking detail.
When the officer arrived at Mound View Park and Campground, the dog didn’t hold back. She trotted over and leapt straight into the police vehicle.
“This sweet girl came right over to the officer and jumped in the squad,” the department shared in a Facebook post.
But something else quickly drew the officer’s attention. Around the pup’s pink collar was a small note.
“Upon further inspection, the officer discovered this note attached to the pink collar the dog was wearing,” the post added.
The handwritten message read:
“Please help. Take me to a shelter. My name is LOLA.”
Reading those words while looking at the dog’s gentle face was heartbreaking for the responding officer.
It was clear she had been left behind, which in Platteville is against city ordinance.
An Update Filled With Hope
“We are asking for the public’s assistance in finding Lola’s original ‘owners’. We would like to speak with them. Thank you in advance,” the police department stated.
Lola’s story spread quickly, stirring emotions far beyond Wisconsin. Many people asked how anyone could abandon such a kind-hearted pup.
While the PPD continued their investigation, Lola was taken to Platteville Veterinary Clinic, where the staff began helping her search for a permanent home.
Her wait was short. Just a week later, everything had changed for Lola.
Both the police department and the vet clinic announced wonderful news. Lola had found her forever family and was officially adopted into a loving home.
