There are many stereotypes when it comes to dogs with special needs. Many people think that such dogs cannot possibly lead a normal life, and because of this, most of them never see their happy ending.
However, sometimes these special beings only need a little love to show their true colors. Then their soul truly shines and only the sky is their limit.
A living example of this is a dog from San Diego, California. Sadly, she was blind when her family adopted her after which even her eyes were removed. But for her, that was no obstacle to live life to the fullest.
Not only that, but she also showed her special skills, which, considering her condition, amazed many people.
Enjoying Every Moment
When they first adopted her, Z, as her parents named this dog, was blind and not in a very good condition.
“She looked pretty rough in the shelter photos,” Tran Le, Z’s mom, told The Dodo. “The vet suggested that her blindness was due to cataracts and glaucoma. Last year, her eyes were removed because of symptomatic glaucoma.”
Regardless of all her disabilities, her new family from San Diego, California saw something special in this pup and did not want to give up on her. Soon, she started giving back to them in the best possible way – with her incredible positive energy and will to live.
However, what impressed them the most was the love for her favorite game – the game of fetch. It was the activity that truly kept her alive and gave her the greatest joy.
“Right from the start, her fascination with fetch was obvious,” Le said. “She’s always on the lookout for toys, especially her ball, and would bring us toys to throw. She’s relentless in the pursuit of fetch, even waking up in the morning and immediately searching for her ball.”
The very fact that a dog without eyes was able to play such a game so well fascinated them even more. Despite not seeing anything, Z had no trouble finding the ball whenever a member of her family threw it. But that’s not all.
“We’ve tried various sound-making balls, but she always goes back to her basic green and red ball,” Le said. “We think the balls that make sounds are too easy for her, and she enjoys the challenge of the basic bouncing ball.”
It didn’t take long for the story of the eyeless dog that can successfully catch balls, to reach the public and win many hearts.
Fetching Star
Not long after Z started showing off her incredible talent, Tran Le made sure it didn’t go unnoticed. She started recording her exhibitions with the ball and posting the videos on her TikTok profile. Soon, they gained a lot of attention.
“The response to her videos has been overwhelmingly positive,” Le said. “Viewers express a range of emotions, from tears of joy to amazement.”
However, the video that Le posted on the 51st day of her stay with the new family raised the popularity of this eyeless fetching dog to a new level.

There were various comments on Z’s performance, but most of them were positive and were reflections of fascination with the ability of this incredible canine.
One user wrote: “Has anyone contacted the guy who ranks dogs? Cause this guy deserves to be number 1.”
“The purest and sweetest thing to see a blind doggy playing fetch 😭,” another one added.
And the viral @weratedogs commented: “He looked so confident when he looked the OPPOSITE way the ball was rolling.”
All these positive reactions were the greatest reward for this dog, who, despite everything, did not hesitate to show everyone her magnificent talent.
However, she did not get too carried away with her fame but simply enjoyed every moment of the game she loved the most. But that was because that game represented something much bigger for her – a life worth living despite all the hardships.
Truly Z can be a role model for all of us.
