Missouri Dog With A Heart Of Gold Overlooked For Two Years Because He Cannot Hear

The holiday season is a time of joy for many, even for our furry friends who hope to celebrate surrounded by love. Sadly, not every dog gets that chance.

Knox, a Great Pyrenees and Labrador mix, is still longing for happiness. Instead of a festive celebration, this gentle giant marks a heartbreaking milestone, spending two full years at a Missouri shelter without being chosen.

The reason he has been passed over time and again is simple yet cruel. He is deaf.

Knox’s Mysterious Beginning

Knox’s early life remains unknown. When he first arrived at Dogwood Animal Shelter in Osage Beach, Missouri, he was listed as a stray, with no sign of a previous family.

As just a few months-old pup, Knox immediately bonded with staff and earned the nickname of a gentle giant.

Though his size may appear intimidating, Knox has always been affectionate and gentle. Sadly, even his loving personality has not been enough to land him a forever home, all because he cannot hear.

“His endearing nature is particularly touching considering his special need – he is deaf. Despite his hearing impairment, Knox is a happy and easy-going guy,” it is stated in his Pet Finder profile.

One of the first to meet Knox, shelter volunteer Lynn Ludwig, shared his story on TikTok. The post quickly went viral, spreading his plight far beyond Missouri.

Messages poured in from across the country. Many people expressed hope and sent prayers, wishing this sweet boy would soon find a home.

“Praying this beautiful baby finds his forever home, he deserves the world,” one commenter wrote.

“All I want for Christmas is for Knox to get adopted,” another added.

Deaf But Full Of Joy

Even with his disability, Knox’s caregivers insist that his deafness does not define him. He is a playful, loving dog who just needs the right family to embrace him.

He would thrive in a calm household where he could be the only pet, enjoying life at his own pace.

“Patience, understanding, and unconditional love are the pillars of the home he seeks… Be it leisurely strolls in nature or cozy evenings at home, Knox is ready to share his heart and sweet spirit he will bring to his forever home,” his caregivers concluded.

Knox still waits for someone to see him for who he truly is.

When that moment finally arrives, he will bring endless happiness to the family who welcomes him. This gentle giant has nothing but love to give to those willing to show him kindness.

Good luck, Knox. You are truly a good boy.
