Many people visit shelters dreaming of a playful puppy. Senior dogs, despite their calm hearts and loyal spirits, are often passed by without a second glance.

Sweetie, a 10-year-old pit bull terrier, knows exactly how that feels.
For months, she lived inside Cobb County Animal Services in Georgia, greeting visitors with bright eyes and a hopeful tail. No matter how many times people walked past, she never gave up. She simply waited for the day someone would stop and stay.
