Grandmama, a senior rescue dog, spent twelve long years outside. Sadly, she never knew the comfort of a warm bed or a safe home. But now, in her foster home, she’s learning how to live a life full of love.
Her recent nightly ritual captured on camera melted everyone’s soul.
The Sweetest Obsession
One thing is for sure: Grandmama, also lovingly called Ginny, didn’t have a cozy bed in the past. According to her temporary mom, Danielle Vitti, from New Jersey, she was likely used as a hunting dog.
Then, when she was no longer needed, Grandmama was left to fend for herself.
But when she was rescued from the streets of Louisiana and taken to New Jersey, she was given a chance at a new life.
Vitti, a foster with Real Dog Rescue, took Grandmama in after her rough start.
Turns out, it was the best decision ever! Grandmama, who copes with heartworm disease and being underweight, soon transformed in the sweetest way possible.
She slowly began to adjust to her new home, including toys. On her second day, she gently picked up a Lamb Chop and started carrying it around.
Before long, she was all about that particular toy!
What followed next was a sweet nightly routine that brought tears to Vitti’s followers who watched it unfold. Every night, Grandmama climbs up and down the stairs, carrying each Lamb Chop toy one by one into the bed.
“My foster spent 12 years sleeping outside & not knowing what a toy was… now she spends every night tucking in her lambies one by one,” Vittie wrote in the post.
On some level, it’s as if she’s making sure all the toys are safe and sound. It’s truly wonderful!

Vitti’s video, posted on TikTok, quickly went viral. In just days, the video amassed thousands of views and heartwarming comments from people all over the country.
People couldn’t help but react to Grandmama’s sweet routine.
“She doesn’t want them to be cold the way she was,” one person wrote.
“Dogs are such pure creatures. This video brings me joy watching it,” another chimed in.
“Shes so precious. This is why I couldn’t foster, I’d end up keeping them all,” a third user added.
This once-neglected dog who spent years outside has definitely transformed into a beloved foster dog with her very own ritual. And while her past was filled with hardship, Grandmama’s golden years are definitely bright.
