Traditions are a very important part of our lives. They can shape how we interact with people and give us a sense of community.
However, this doesn’t just apply to us. Sometimes, some dogs can get a real sense of community and appreciation when they are around people during important events.
And, that is also important to them. The dog we will talk about in this story in particular likes Christmas so much that his owner wanted to give him a big surprise for the next one.
The Sweetest Pittie
When Kristin first adopted Fenway in 2014, it was during a crossroads in her life when she wanted to get out of an abusive relationship.
Because she didn’t have any family in Colorado, Fenway was her only emotional support during this time of need.
She told The Dodo: “We were basically just trying to find anywhere to live. He was just always there for me.”
As the years went by, he helped her immensely get through this rough patch and come out on the other side doing much better.
A New Tradition
In December of 2017, she wanted to do something for Fenway, so she started his favorite Christmas tradition.
He just loves this so much. Kristin said: “He absolutely freaks out on Christmas morning and turns into a little kid.”
Fenway is always so happy to open his presents, and when that is done, they watch Santa together on TV.
They would even go on a trip in the car, where Fenway would enjoy watching the pretty lights on other homes in Colorado.
It was really wholesome, and Fenway definitely loved just seeing the warmth and joys of Christmas.
Kristin’s New Surprise
However, for this year, Kristin thought she would prepare the ultimate surprise. After decorating the tree, she invited someone to the house.
It was Santa. Fenway was just over the moon to see him, and he even jumped at the door, wanting to greet him.
When he got into the house, the dog was just so excited that he didn’t know what to do first. It was adorable.
Kristin said: “When he saw Santa, it was like a dream come true for him. He just could not contain his excitement.“
He gave him lots of gifts and cuddles, and the dog was more than happy to receive them from one of his favorite people.
She was so glad that Fenway enjoyed her big surprise, and it has definitely marked this Christmas as one of the best ones for him.
