Ever since Bailie came in as a stray, she has never left her kennel, and she has called the shelter her home for more than 750 days.
She was a Pit Bull mix, and because of the label of a dangerous dog that people put on her breed, Bailie had been overlooked.
One of the other reasons why she was passed by was the fact that she was an adult dog, and the adopters prefer welcoming puppies into their home.
Bailie didn’t know why nobody wanted to give her a chance to show them what a great dog she was. And yet, although she was incredibly sad, she didn’t lose hope.
No Dog Deserves To Receive Such News
Aileen Betancourt, a shelter worker at Laurie P. Andrews Adoption Center in Texas, visited Bailie in her kennel and shared a video of her visit on TikTok.
The footage shows the pup gazing at Betancourt with her loving eyes filled with trust.
She was glad that the kind woman paid her a visit, not knowing that she brought her bad news.
Betancourt attached a sign on Bailie’s kennel that said the dog’s time was running out. Heartbreakingly, she was scheduled for euthanasia.
Betancourt hoped that a greater exposure on social media would give Bailie better chances of saving her life and finding someone who would adopt her.
She knew Bailie very well and was convinced that she would be a great pet.
“Bailie is sweet, energetic, social with other dogs, playful, confident, and absolutely loves to explore,” Betancourt wrote in the caption.
When the TikTok community watched Bailie’s video and learned about her story, their hearts shattered.
Fortunately, the clip went viral, and it attracted the attention of a wonderful woman named Amanda.
She fell in love with Bailie and was compelled to travel for eight and a half hours so that she could save her.
Amanda submitted an adoption application, got in touch with the shelter, and promised that she was coming to adopt Bailie.
Bailie’s Fairytale
Everyone was happy for the doggo. After waiting for so long, she left the Texas shelter and found her happily ever after at last.
Bailie was excited when she met her new mom, and she couldn’t stop smiling during her freedom ride.
Amanda promised her that she would never return to the shelter ever again.
Bailie moved in with her new mom, who gave her love and helped her settle into her new home.
Once she came out of her shell, the doggo let her playful and loving personality shine through. She sleeps with her mom in her bed, and in her free time, she loves watching squirrels.
