Dogs are the most loyal companions we could ever ask for. We love them with all our hearts and consider them true members of the family.
That is why it is devastating to know that so many pups are abandoned by the very people they trust. No animal deserves that kind of heartbreak.
Salvatore went through that same pain when his family left him behind, waiting faithfully in their yard for someone who never returned.

Faithful Pup Holding On
Salvatore was left all alone when his family moved away without him. He was abandoned in the yard of the home he had always known.
The loyal pup could not understand what had happened. He was certain they would return. So he stayed, keeping guard at the house and waiting in the yard.
Days passed, and then weeks. No one ever came back for him. His sadness grew, but his hope never faded.
Neighbors noticed his devotion, watching him sit faithfully every single day. Their hearts ached to see him waiting so patiently.
Wanting to help, they contacted Everglades Angels Dog Rescue and shared his story.
They also explained that he had always been a wonderful companion, kind with people and gentle with the couple’s two children.
That was when rescuer Gloria Cabal stepped in to try and save him.
She brought fresh food and water, doing everything she could to earn his trust. But Salvatore would not leave the yard. It was the only place he knew, and he clung to the hope that his family might return.
Cabal did not give up. Every single day for a month she came back, patient and determined, slowly showing him that she cared.
“There were so many obstacles put in her path, but her compassion, strength and determination prevailed,” the rescue wrote on their Facebook.
From Heartbreak To Rescue
One day, after a realtor drove him from the property, Salvatore finally turned to Cabal for comfort. That was the moment she was able to bring him to safety.
He was taken to Everglades Angels Dog Rescue, where he received a full veterinary checkup. His broken teeth were repaired, and he was given the vaccinations he needed.
At first, Salvatore was anxious. His eyes carried the weight of everything he had endured. But surrounded by kind staff, he slowly began to heal.
Day by day, his true personality came through. No longer distant, he opened up with warmth and affection.
He loved cuddles most of all, often hopping onto the bed just to ask for more pets.
The staff could not believe that such a sweet and loving pup had been abandoned.
“He is a volunteer favorite,” said Denise Guevara, a coordinator of Everglades Angels Dog Rescue.
A Forever Home Full Of Love
Though the volunteers knew they would miss him dearly, they also knew adoption was his best chance at happiness.
That wonderful day finally arrived when a kind family stepped forward to give Salvatore the home he had been waiting for.
The family had lost their beloved dog in the past, and their home had felt empty ever since. Meeting Salvatore filled that void instantly.
He now has a new life, surrounded by love, belly rubs, and the promise that he will never be left behind again.
Salvatore is finally right where he belongs.
