Being a dog lover and remaining immune to all these heartbreaking stories pouring in every day is simply impossible. Still, I can’t recall the last time a story left me devastated the way Mishi’s did.
At thirteen years old, this sweet dog, who had never known anything outside her loving home, was forced to leave it.
And no… she didn’t just move to another home. Mishi lost everything familiar, with her entire world turning completely upside down. She replaced her dad’s comfy lap with a cold kennel floor, four walls, and an unfamiliar environment.
Needless to say, Mishi was utterly and unbearably devastated! And, so was everyone who saw her in that condition.
She Can’t Stop Crying
Poor Mishi was the epitome of the perfect companion. She stayed true to her dad for over a decade, and not only did she love it – she didn’t want anything to change, ever!
Just when it seemed that the two were about to spend their golden years steadily, a heartbreak unfolded.
Mishi’s dad faced eviction and was facing homelessness. In such a terrible situation, there was only one thing he could do: surrender Mishi to the shelter.
He knew that it would be impossible to give Mishi the life she deserved. So, with the best interests at heart, he reached out to Anita’s Stevens Swan Humane Society in New York.
“This sweet soul has endured the unimaginable for any animal. Mishi’s home, her person — the only companion she has ever known since she was just a tiny puppy 13 years ago — is no longer at her side,” the New York rescue wrote in a heartbreaking post.
The two walked three miles to the rescue, and when the moment to say goodbye finally arrived, everything stopped for a moment.
Both Mishi and her dad couldn’t contain their heartbreak. They both cried – Mishi for being placed in a tiny kennel, and he for knowing he might never see his girl again.
“When she is placed back into a kennel, her cries cannot be silenced. It’s a reality so different from anything she has ever known,” the rescue added.
Mishi Needs Someone Who Will Love Her
Days passed, and Mishi still didn’t accept the fact that her dad wasn’t there anymore. Even though she finds joy in little things now, like meeting new people or interacting with other dogs, it’s clear that Mishi misses her home so much.
One thing is for sure: the shelter environment is already taking a toll on this senior pup. What she needs at this point is a loving home and people ready to give her a second chance at life.
Mishi is a fairly healthy pup, gets along well with dogs and cats, and would be a great addition to any family.
“Mishi does get along well with other animals. Mishi is spayed, current on vaccines, and microchipped,” ASSHS concludes.
While the volunteers do their best to comfort her with fluffy blankets, toys, delicious treats, and love, they know Mishi would be happiest outside the kennel.
Hopefully, her new adopters are just around the corner, ready to give this sweet girl one more chance at happiness!
