Who could resist a dog’s bright grin or a happy, wagging tail?
Honestly, it’s impossible.
And neither could the rescuers who discovered Professor Plum, a Pittie mix cruelly abandoned and tied to a tree in St. Louis, Missouri.
Once help arrived, this gentle pup couldn’t contain his happiness, as if he instantly understood that life was about to change for the better.
Happiness From The First Moment

For years, Stray Rescue of St. Louis, Missouri, has stepped in to save dogs from the toughest circumstances. Their devoted team of rescuers has seen countless heartbreaking cases, but one day, one call stood out.
A report came in about a dog left tied to a tree in the city, and the team immediately set out to help.
When they reached the spot, they expected to find a frightened or withdrawn dog. Instead, they were greeted by pure joy.

“This pup was tied up outside. As we approached him, he seemed to say ‘oh thank goodness, yes come help me! I’m all by myself! I’m just a baby boy!’,” the rescue wrote on Facebook.
At just a year and a half old, Professor Plum was still a young pup. Despite being abandoned, he greeted his rescuers with trust and excitement, wagging his tail the moment they approached.
His soft brown eyes shone with relief, and his entire body seemed to radiate gratitude as he soaked up the love and attention he’d been waiting for.
An Unexpected Reunion
While rescuing Professor Plum was already heartwarming, what happened next made the day unforgettable.
After a brief medical check and some much-needed rest, he was ready to go into foster care. But by complete coincidence, his placement led him back to someone from his earliest days.
His foster mom, Barb Kumar, had actually cared for him and his sister when they were just tiny puppies. Neither she nor the rescue expected this twist, turning the reunion into something incredibly special.
Professor Plum recognized her right away. He ran straight to her, showering her with kisses and wagging his tail in excitement. This time, instead of his sister, he was welcomed by two friendly new foster siblings, and they bonded instantly.
The home was soon filled with cheerful play, snuggles, and the comfort of safety.
After everything he had gone through, Professor Plum finally had people who loved him and other dogs to share his days with.
Now, he’s meeting potential adopters and waiting for the right family to make his new beginning official.
With his joyful personality and gentle heart, there’s no doubt that Professor Plum will soon find the forever home he truly deserves.
