Some dogs, no matter how hard life hits them, never lose hope that a better tomorrow will come. Their spark of resilience is truly unbelievable!
When I first came across Blue’s story, it hit me hard.
From the moment he was adopted the first time to the moment he was abandoned, everything he experienced was heartbreaking. Then, I realized that if it weren’t for his life journey, he might have never ended up in the place he is now.
Still, it is hard to process that there are people whose recklessness is so big. And, Blue certainly didn’t deserve any of that.
This is his story…
Blue’s Life Journey Was A Tough One
McKenna Davidson was a professional soccer player living abroad when she first came across Blue. He was lying on the side of the road completely alone, without his mom or his siblings nearby.
Thanks to her kind act, he was safely brought to Animals Need Me, a local rescue organization. Given the full capacity of the shelter, McKenna agreed to take Blue in until she had to move back to Hawaii, spending a wonderful month with her new foster.
What she didn’t know at the time was how naturally sweet Blue was.
The two fell in love right away. They spent every single moment together, from exciting walkies to daily trips to the city. But then, the heartbreak unfolded.
McKenna had to go back home, leaving Blue with her friends at the ANM rescue.
Though heartbroken, his foster mom hoped for good news from Blue’s caregivers. She truly believed her teeny-tiny companion would find a home soon, and she wasn’t wrong! Just a few weeks later, Blue was adopted and set off for a new chapter.
Sadly, his happiness didn’t last long. Eager to learn how Blue was doing in his new home, the shelter found out that his new family kept him chained to a small doghouse outside. This news truly broke their hearts, ultimately leading Blue back to the shelter.
Months later, a new family appeared on the shelter’s doorstep, wanting to adopt Blue. Unexpectedly, a moment of happiness flooded everyone’s hearts again. This time, Blue’s second family might finally be the right one (or so they thought).
With this news, McKenna and the shelter closed Blue’s chapter, hoping that would be about it. Little did they know that Blue was far from a happy ending!
One night, the shelter staff was left shocked to the core. They witnessed a dog being thrown over their wall by his owners simply because they wanted to get rid of him at any cost.
Then, they realized – it was Blue!
The workers couldn’t believe their eyes. Blue’s second home turned out to be even worse.
“They threw him over this wall because they ‘didn’t want him’ anymore. When the shelter told me what happened, I knew we had to get him to us,” McKenna wrote on Instagram.
Thousands Of Miles Later, He’s In His Dream Home
It didn’t take long for McKenna to find out the horrifying news. She couldn’t contain all the heartbreak upon learning what Blue had been through, and she immediately decided to do something about it.
McKenna was inclined to adopt her beloved rescue pup despite all the paperwork awaiting her in the process.
It took her exactly four months, lots of sleepless nights, and numerous arrangements, but Blue was finally on his way! He flew thousands of miles, crossed many states, including Atlanta and Oregon, and finally made it to Hawaii.
“After months of planning, paperwork and a lot of travel, Blue finally made it home to us,” McKenna wrote.
When he arrived at his new home, he was a big boy, completely different than McKenna remembered. Yet, his spark was left intact. He still had the two most captivating eyes and a beautiful smile, even after everything that had happened to him.
“He teaches us about resilience, forgiveness, hope and unconditional love. Everyone says he’s so lucky, but we know we are the lucky ones. He will never have to worry about being abandoned or hurt again,” McKenna concluded.
Blue is finally where he needed to be all along – in a loving, caring home next to the family who loves him.
Despite all the trauma, he has never displayed anything but gentleness. He’s simply made of love and definitely doesn’t hold a grudge against his former owners.
Now, with his new/old mom next to him, Blue plans on living his life to the fullest, embracing all the exciting adventures coming his way. And, he couldn’t be happier!
