Anyone who has ever owned a Golden Retriever must know that they are probably one of the happiest and most hyperactive dog breeds in the world.
However, every owner also must know that they can be some of the most dramatic pups ever. And, believe me, I should know.
Sometimes, they can refuse to acknowledge you for no reason if you are only a few minutes late at home, or if you don’t want to play tag with them.
These silly things are really important for Golden Retrievers, and it’s important not to ignore them. However, what this sweet dog did surprised even his owners from Illinois, who were used to all the drama.
The Most Adorable Drama Queen
When it comes to being dramatic, I think there are only a few pups who would beat Charlie. I mean, he is such a sweet and cheerful pup, but his owners know that he can also be a ‘little dramatic.’
His owners can recall many times when he was acting a little odd. There was one time he thought that his mom wanted to play with him, but all she did was approach him.
Charlie would start running around the apartment, thinking his owner wanted to play at that moment. He can also be a little resentful of leashes when he is going for a walk.
If he decides at the moment, he will start biting on them for no reason. His reaction to seeing robot toys is not much different. However, this time, he would start barking at them.
All of these short examples are really hilarious for their owners, but one of the funniest examples of Charlie being a drama queen was something else entirely.
One day, his owners decided to go for a walk, so they took Charlie with them. The idea was that they would take a walk, and his mom would go to her pilates class in Illinois.
He and his dad would go back home after that. A simple enough plan, right? Well, Charlie would beg to differ. When his mom was dropped off at her pilates class, this pup wouldn’t leave.
Charlie didn’t understand that his mom was only going to be away for a few hours at best. He assumed the worst, so he was not going to leave until she came back.
His owner tried to reason with him and get him to move, but Charlie was not budging. He was concerned that his mom would leave forever. He couldn’t allow that to happen, so he waited.

As usual, Charlie’s parents recorded his overdramatic response to the entire event and they posted it on this pup’s TikTok channel.
It would be a reasonable assumption that people watching the video would get creative with the comments. And, I was not disappointed.
One person commented: “The only acceptable answer is he must attend the Pilates class too.”
Well, I believe that at this point, it is the only way to truly convince him that his mom is not leaving forever and is just attending her pilates class.
Another person said: “a dog’s number 1 rule is we leave home together, we return home together.”
Yeah, I kind of find it hard to argue with this point. I mean, what if something happens when your dog is not there? He could always protect you, so it’s important to have him at your side.
Lastly, somebody commented: “There is nothing in the world that is stronger than a golden retriever who doesn’t want to walk”
Yes, I believe that the force necessary to push a Golden Retriever in such a state is unfathomable. But, then again, you can always just carry him.
All jokes aside, seeing Charlie’s story reminds me of how simple and funny life can be with Golden Retrievers. Even though they can be a little dramatic, you can be sure that they will always make your day.
