We may never know Newton’s story and whether he has ever been loved or cherished in his life.
All we know are the heartbreaking circumstances in which the one-year-old Pit Bull mix was abandoned. He was tied to a pole on a shelter fence in the pouring rain.
Just to imagine how sad and confused Newton felt breaks my heart in pieces.
The pup must have expected his people to come back for him, not knowing that they had turned their backs on him for good.
Newton didn’t deserve the betrayal from his people and neither did any other dog.
Sudden Change And Stress
Newton started his new life in the Valley Animal Center in Fresno, California, hoping that he wouldn’t stay there long.
Although the staff tried to comfort him, the pup felt stressed. The shelter noise and the sudden life change were difficult to deal with.
He just wanted to get out of the shelter kennel which seemed like a prison to him. He was a playful and energetic dog who wanted to play and enjoy his life.
The staff could tell that Newton would flourish in an active home where he would have enough exercise to release his energy.
According to his caregivers, the precious pup has a good relationship with cats and he gets along with children who are mindful of his boundaries.
Unfortunately, since the shelter stress was overwhelming for Newton, the vet put him on anxiety medication.
Sometimes, the pup gets so stressed that he bounces off the kennel walls.
However, when the California staff and volunteers take Newton outside, they see his real disposition. The dog is a totally different pup. He has a lot of love to give and he learns pretty fast.
Looking For A Chance To Experience True Love
A volunteer at the Fresno shelter named Jackie Gonzalez shared a TikTok video of Newton. It shows him lying on a blanket with the saddest look on his face.
The caption reads: “POV [point of view]: you were left tied to a pole in the pouring rain at the shelter …”
The video quickly captured the internet’s attention. The TikTok community felt heartbroken for the pup and hoped that he would find the happiness he deserved.
As he spends day after day in the shelter kennel, Newton dreams of getting a second shot at happiness.
He hopes to meet his person who will provide him with daily exercise and a loving home that he needs.
The young pup deserves to find unconditional love and to know that his humans will never reject him.
