If any dog knew what it meant to go from a happy home to rock bottom, it was Honey Bunches.
This lovable pup had everything she could want: a warm home, loving owners, and a whole life of fun ahead of her. But then, an accident changed everything, and in a single day, she lost it all.
After suffering a major injury, Honey Bunches was brought to a New York shelter because her owners couldn’t afford the critical surgery she needed. Now just one of many shelter dogs, she was soon placed on the euthanasia list.
From Being Surrendered To Getting Medical Foster Help

Honey Bunches’ condition was devastating. The poor girl was about to be euthanized through no fault of her own after being struck by an electric scooter. Her femur was broken, and while surgery was needed, neither her family nor the shelter could manage the cost.
That’s when Rachel stepped in.
The compassionate rescuer from Twenty Paws Rescue in New York City acted fast when she heard about Honey Bunches. She pulled her from the shelter and welcomed her as a medical foster, knowing this little soul deserved a real chance.

“When we saw her face, we knew we NEEDED to help her. She was listed to be euthanized today at noon. Not anymore! She’s our medical foster intake,” TPR explained on their social media.
Honey Bunches quickly had surgery, and the outcome was incredible!

During the first six weeks, she had to stay on strict crate rest—and her foster mom followed it carefully. It wasn’t easy, especially with Honey’s playful personality, but Rachel supported her healing the entire way.
Soon enough, she was running around again, exploring her world like before.
Honey Bunches adored her foster home, but what she loved most was Oreo, Rachel’s dog, who became her closest friend.
The two ran around together, played nonstop in the yard, and soaked up every joyful moment. And just when things seemed perfect, Honey Bunches got the news that would change everything!
Running Freely In Her Forever Family

It didn’t take long for Honey Bunches to find a place to call her own! A woman named Ashley reached out, and the two immediately bonded.
“We couldn’t have dreamed of a better home for her! So much love to HB and her mama,” the New York rescue wrote on Facebook.
Now renamed Autumn, Honey Bunches is finally where she belongs, and she’s absolutely thriving. Watching her sprint and play again after everything she went through is an incredible reward for both Ashley and Rachel.

Ashley says Autumn now has all the space she could ask for in her new backyard.
“She is still the best thing to ever happen to me. I bought her a new house with a biggggg backyard outside of the city. Anything for my girl,” Ashley told TPR in a message.
Her story is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when someone refuses to give up on a dog in need. Huge thanks to Rachel and TPR. May you keep changing lives, one dog at a time.
