Connecticut Dog Surrendered And Heartbroken After Owners Say He’s No Longer A Fit

Few things compare to the joy of a dog finally being adopted. If you’ve ever witnessed that moment, you know the scene well: a wagging tail that won’t stop, eyes full of hope, and a heart overflowing with happiness that says, “I’m finally going home!”

Picture this: a black-and-white pup with medium-long fur, the innocence of a child, the warmth of a loyal friend, and a smile that could light up a room. That’s Prince.

He showed all of these qualities when his life seemed to be turning around. But not long after finding happiness, Prince’s world was shaken once again.

Prince’s Dream Of A Family

Thanks to PawSafe, a rescue group based in Connecticut, Prince was saved from a high-intake shelter where his future was uncertain. For the first time, he had security, comfort, and people who cared for him.

After regaining his health, Prince was ready for a new beginning.

Before long, a man connected through the rescue fell in love with Prince and promised him a forever home. That day felt like a dream come true.

It was the kind of moment every rescuer hopes for: Prince leaning into his new dad’s embrace, soaking up affection, and looking forward to the life ahead. Everything seemed perfect.

But soon, things took a painful turn.

What started as a happy ending quickly became another heartbreak. Not long after his adoption, Prince was brought back to the shelter.

His adopter had accepted a job that required constant travel and decided to give him up.

“Sadly, his owner became too busy with his own forever to remember Prince’s forever and he’s back at the shelter,” PawSafe shared in a TikTok post.

Hoping For A True Forever

Now, Prince faces the difficult task of starting over once more. Confused and sorrowful, he struggles to understand why he was returned to the place he thought he had left behind.

Still, there’s hope. Prince is friendly, affectionate, and adapts quickly. He is housebroken, crate-trained, and enjoys meeting new people.

“He’s a very sweet boy, housebroken, crate trained, and very good with everyone he meets. While his photos do not do him justice, he’s kinda sleek and kinda scruffy all in one. He’s been bounced around a bit while his previous owner traveled and has adjusted wonderfully each time,” the rescue noted.

The team hopes his stay at the shelter will be short. Prince is already accustomed to living in a home, and the shelter environment isn’t where he belongs.

For now, everyone is rooting for him to find a family who will love him endlessly and keep their promise of forever.

Good luck, sweet Prince. You deserve it.
