From the moment we bring a dog into our home, we make a promise to love and care for them for the rest of their lives. Surrounded by our affection, our furry companions blossom into joyful, trusting pets.
That’s why it’s so heartbreaking to hear about yet another case of a dog being left behind—especially in dangerous places—without a second thought about what becomes of them.
Abandoned with no understanding of why, many loyal pups keep waiting, convinced their people will return for them. Ribbles was one of those dogs.
Left behind at a railway track, this sweet and devoted pup clung to hope, risking her life daily while waiting for the humans she once trusted.
How long would she have to wait? And would happiness ever find her again?
Holding Onto Hope

Ribbles was left behind by her family at a railroad track in Southern California. She had no idea they had given up on her, and she remained by the tracks, faithfully waiting to be brought home.
Despite the daily danger, Ribbles refused to leave. Her unwavering belief that her family would return kept her rooted in place.
Days passed, then weeks. Though her hope slowly began to fade, she couldn’t bring herself to walk away. She missed her family, and she still believed they would come back for her.
One day, a compassionate woman saw Ribbles narrowly escaping an oncoming train. She was both shocked and relieved to see the pup survive.
After attempting to catch her without success, the woman reached out to Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy, to report the heartbreaking situation.
Mission To Save Ribbles

Hall wasted no time. She jumped in her car and headed straight to the tracks. As soon as she arrived, she spotted Ribbles, still clinging to the same dangerous spot.
While Hall was there, five trains came through—and with each one, Ribbles darted into a small hole in a nearby fence.
Curious, Hall followed the path and discovered that the hole led into the grounds of a car dealership. After speaking with the staff, she learned they had been feeding Ribbles daily and allowing her to sleep there at night.
Grateful for their kindness, Hall got permission to set up a humane trap inside the property. She placed food in a crate, hoping it would coax the pup inside.
But Ribbles was still too scared to approach while Hall was nearby. So the rescuer decided to give her space and return the following morning.
When Hall came back the next day, she noticed something on the tracks. Fearing the worst, she ran toward it—her heart pounding.
Relief flooded over her when she realized it wasn’t Ribbles, but a group of coyotes searching for food.
She hurried to check the trap and was overwhelmed with joy: Ribbles was finally safe.

Hall brought the pup to a pet hospital in Irvine, California, where a vet confirmed Ribbles had a severe ear infection and swelling in her elbow and leg.
It was heartbreaking to learn how much pain this gentle dog had silently endured while waiting for a family who never came back.
Hall was moved by her strength and determination. Despite the danger from trains and nearby coyotes, Ribbles had held on—her loyalty and love stronger than her fear.
A New Beginning

Once she fully recovered, the devoted dog with the softest eyes was adopted into a forever home.
The moment her new family met her, they instantly fell in love. They knew without a doubt she was meant to be part of their lives.
Now named Lucy, she lives in Joshua Tree, surrounded by warmth, safety, and affection. She has a doggy sister and loves going on hikes with her humans.

It fills our hearts with joy knowing that Lucy has finally found her happy ending—a place where she is cherished every day.
Sadly, many dogs like her are still being abandoned in dangerous, isolated places. If you see a stray dog in need, please reach out to a local rescue or shelter. Together, we can give these innocent souls the love and safety they deserve.
