Dog’s Smile Fades As He Realizes He’s Going Back To The Washington Shelter After A Perfect Day

Dog’s Smile Fades As He Realizes He’s Going Back To The Washington Shelter After A Perfect Day

Once a dog tastes freedom, going back can be the hardest part.

Now imagine the ache a shelter pup must feel after leaving a cramped kennel, strolling through town, greeting new friends at the park, riding in the car, and savoring a sweet pup cup, only to end the day behind bars again.

Miso, a Blue Heeler mix, understands that feeling all too well.

After a month at a Washington shelter, this handsome boy finally spent a day outside with a caring human. The moment he realized they were heading back left everyone crushed.

A Volunteer Decides To Make It Miso’s Day

Volunteer Julie Saraceno at Benton-Franklin Humane Society, Washington, fell for Miso right away. When she learned he had been picked up as a stray, she set out to give him at least one day of freedom, hoping it would help him catch an adopter’s eye.

Their time together was perfect. They walked, went for a drive, soaked in fresh air, and created memories that showed Miso at his best.

But when the outing ended, Miso’s face said everything.

Back at the shelter, Julie and other volunteers witnessed a painful scene. Miso hesitated at the kennel, as if he knew exactly what closing that door meant, and he tried with all his might not to go in.

Julie captured the moment and posted it on social media, asking for help to find Miso a home. She never expected how quickly the clip would spread.

“The moment shelter dog Miso realized the adventure was over and we were going back to his kennel,” the video description read.

During their day out, Julie highlighted Miso’s sweetness and smarts.

“It came as no surprise to me, but he did amazing in the car. He’s so loving and gave me kisses right away. You can definitely tell he is used to being a passenger prince,” Julie wrote in an Instagram post.

Miso demonstrated how easily he connects with people, making it clear he would flourish in a loving home.

“He is smart (even knows how to honk a car horn), loves car rides and pup cups. I’m also obsessed with his tail and his ears. How has he been at the shelter for a month,” Julie added in a different post.

Thanks to Julie’s video, Miso finally got the chance he deserved. A woman in Portland saw the clip of his big adventure and decided to meet him in person.

She made the four hour drive to Washington, hoping he might be the one, and she was right.

From the instant they met, Miso and his future mom clicked. The dog who dreamed of open spaces was finally free for good. Even better, he had a forever family.

From now on, Miso’s days will be filled with love, joy, and new adventures. No more goodbyes at the kennel.
