Sad Washington Dog Realizes He’s Going Back To The Kennel After A Day Out, His Reaction Breaks Hearts

Once you taste freedom, it’s hard to go back, ever – even for our four-legged friends.

Now, imagine the heartbreak a shelter dog can feel after leaving their tiny kennel, taking a stroll down the street, meeting new friends at the park, enjoying a fabulous car ride and pup cup – and then returning to the shelter.

Miso, a Blue Heeler mix, knows this feeling all too well!

After spending a month at the Washington shelter, this striking pup finally experienced what it’s like to have a day out with a hooman. But, his reaction upon returning to the shelter left everyone heartbroken!

Every Day Should Be Miso’s Day Out

Julie Saraceno, a volunteer at Benton-Franklin Humane Society, Washington, fell with Miso right off the bat. Learning that he arrived at the shelter as a stray, she wanted to give this pup a taste of freedom at least for a day, hoping to shed light on his story and help him get adopted.

The two had a blast together. They walked, rode in a car, soaked in the beauty of the outside world, and made memories to remember.

Then, it was time to go back, and Miso definitely didn’t like it!

Upon returning him to his kennel, Julia and other volunteers witnessed something heartbreaking: Miso didn’t want to go back! He knew exactly what would happen when that door closed, and he wanted to stay “free.”

Julia captured the entire situation on camera, and she later posted it on her social media initially as a plea for people to give Miso a chance. Little did she know that the video would go viral in just a few days!

“The moment shelter dog Miso realized the adventure was over and we were going back to his kennel,” the video description read.

During their time together, Julia emphasized how genuinely sweet and intelligent Miso was.

“It came as no surprise to me, but he did amazing in the car. He’s so loving and gave me kisses right away. You can definitely tell he is used to being a passenger prince,” Julie wrote in an Instagram post

Miso showed remarkable companionship skills, proving that he would make an excellent addition to a family once the opportunity presented itself.

“He is smart (even knows how to honk a car horn), loves car rides and pup cups. I’m also obsessed with his tail and his ears. How has he been at the shelter for a month,” Julie added in a different post.

Thanks to Julia’s video, Miso finally got a second chance. A woman in Portland saw his little “day out adventure” and decided to meet him.

She drove four hours to the Washington shelter, hoping that Miso would be the perfect match! And, she was right!

The dog and his new mom formed an instant bond at their very first meeting, and it was already resolved: Miso, who had longed for freedom for days, was finally free! And, now he even had a forever home!

It’s safe to say that from now on, Miso’s days will be filled with nothing but love, adventures, and endless fun. He sure deserves it!
